摘要： A non-interrupting switch (600, 700) for input optical signals comprising a beam displacer (602) for selectively redirecting the input beam between at least a first and a second path, an intercepting element (608) in the first path, and a reflective element (606) in the second path for reflecting the beam. The second path is immediately adjacent to the first path, such that substantially all of the light intercepts either the intercepting element or the reflective element. A transmissive element in one of the paths for transmits at least part of the beam.

摘要： Design and construction of polarization-independent thin film interference filters is accomplished by applying at least one of the following design rules to an original filter design including quarter wave stacks (QWS) (100) of layers of alternating higher index material (H) and lower index material (L) and half wave cavities (HWC) (110): design rule 1 -increasing or decreasing the thicknesses of HWC's in the filter by a small (less than 1/4 wavelength) increment; design rule 2 -adding small increments (less than 1/4 wavelength) to one or more layers and correspondingly subtracting equivalent aggregate increments from one or more adjacent or nearby layers; or design rule 3 - replacing HWC's with asymmetric composite HWC's.
