摘要： An aquatic mammal rescue device and method includes an array of suction cup lifters that adapt to contact and adhere to the body of an aquatic mammal on land or at the surface of water. The array is lifted to raise the aquatic mammal from the ground or water for transport. The rescue device may he part of a vehicle capable of land, sea, and/or air travel or it may be movable by attachment to a separate vehicle of other lifting mechanism (e.g.. crane). The device may be used to transport a beached mammal (e.g., a whale) back to the water or to a treatment facility. 摘要： A method of terminating a fiber optic cable includes removing a portion of an outer jacket from an end of a fiber optic cable to expose an end portion of an optical fiber so that an end of the optical fiber extends a first axial length from the outer jacket. A portion of the fiber optic cable is coiled about a spool so that the end of the optical fiber extends a second axial length from the outer jacket. The second axial length is greater than the first axial length. A second optical fiber is spliced to the optical fiber of the fiber optic cable. The portion of the fiber optic cable is uncoiled so that the optical fiber retracts into the outer jacket of the fiber optic cable.

The plurality of Fibre Channel over Ethernet switches are connected to an intermediary Ethernet switch and to each other via an Ethernet connection. The intermediary Ethernet switch is different from the plurality of Fibre Channel over Ethernet switches. A plurality of end ports are also connected to the intermediary Ethernet switch. A failure is detected in a first switch in the plurality of Fibre Channel over Ethernet switches. The first switch is associated with a first end port in the plurality of end ports. A failure notification is sent to the first end port using the intermediary Ethernet switch. The failure notification might specify a second switch destination and an identification of the first switch. A fabric login is exchanged between the first end port and the second switch.

A request for performing the I/O operation is received from an I/O operating system at a channel subsystem and forwarded to a control unit controlling an I/O device for executing the I/O operation. After a predetermined amount of time passes without receiving indication from the control unit that the I/O operation is completed, an interrogation request is received at the channel subsystem from the I/O operating system for determining the state of the I/O operation. An interrogation command is sent from the channel subsystem to the control unit. A response is received from the control unit, the response indicates a state of the I/O device executing the I/O operation, a state of the control unit controlling the I/O device executing the I/O operation, and the state of the I/O operation being executed.

摘要： A computer program product, apparatus, and method for handling exception condition feedback at a channel subsystem of an I/O processing system using data from a control unit are provided. The computer program product includes a tangible storage medium readable by a processing circuit and storing instructions for execution by the processing circuit for performing a method. The response message includes exception condition feedback identifying a termination reason code in response to unsuccessful execution of at least one command in the command message. 摘要： A technique for establishing a logical path between two servers in a coordinated timing network of processing environment is provided. The technique includes the exchange of command and response message pairs by a server and an attached server, via a physical link. The server transmits a command message to an attached server to establish a server-time-protocol(STP) logical path and receives a response from the attached server. The technique also includes the server receiving a request transmitted by the attached server to establish an STP logical path to the server and transmitting a response to the attached server s request. A logical path between the server and the attached server is established if the attached server s response indicates that the server s request was accepted bythe attached server and if the server s response indicates that the attached server s request was accepted by the server.
