The computing apparatus includes a first memory unit to store a general operating system (OS) in a system partition where a primary anti-virus program operates, and to store a recovery OS in a recovery partition where a secondary anti-virus program operates; a second memory unit to store firmware determining a booting partition of the computing apparatus; and a processor to control execution of the firmware to, when the system partition is infected by a virus and thus the computing apparatus does not boot to the general OS, boot the computing apparatus to the recovery OS, and to control recovery of the system partition.
