    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To convert a general purpose HDD into a storage device without providing special changes in specification to a host apparatus.SOLUTION: A storage device includes a determination unit and an erasure unit. The determination unit determines whether or not erasure of existing data stored in a specific area is instructed by an overwriting instruction defined by an interface from a host apparatus by overwriting data for overwriting for the specific area in a NAND type flush memory. The erasure unit instructs block erasure to a physical block containing the specific area to erase the existing data by removing charges in the NAND type flush memory of the physical block containing the specific area when the determination unit determines that erasure of the existing data stored in the specific area is instructed.
