摘要： Coating compositions for cementitious substrates may be made from a multistage latex polymer; silane; and a water-soluble acid, acid anhydride or acid salt capable of etching or otherwise reacting with the surface of the substrate to provide improved coating adhesion. The silane may be present as a silane coupling agent distinct from the multistage latex polymer, or may be present as silane functionality on the multistage latex polymer. The coating compositions adhere well to cementitious substrates and have a self-etching capability which improves coating adhesion, especially near edges and corners.

In one embodiment, a nucleic acid sample is isolated from a biological sample and the nucleic acid sample is amplified, for example by the polymerase chain reaction. The cartridges provided herein can also be used for the isolation of non-nucleic acid samples, for example proteins, and to perform downstream reactions on the proteins, for example, binding assays. Instruments for carrying out the downstream biological assays and for detecting the results of the assays are also provided.

In addition, the system further comprises at least two sensors for obtaining dimensional measurements of the fiducial reference points and the animal from at least two different fields of view. In one embodiment, the at least two different fields of view are at least a side view and a top view. The system also comprises a processing system configured to receive the dimensional measurements from the at least two sensors and calculate one or more dimensions of the animal by relating positions of animal features to known locations of the fiducial reference points. The system also may create and measure a 3-dimensional image of the animal.

摘要： A meat slicing apparatus is disclosed, wherein the apparatus is capable of high-speed slicing of meat having large skeletal bones therein. The apparatus has a blade composed of a steel alloy that is approximately 5 to 10 times greater in compression strength than typical steel. The blade has an involute shape for withstanding the stresses incurred when slicing through bones having compression near that of steel, e.g., pork loin bones. The meat slicer includes a mechanism for securing a position of a meat section to be sliced so that the meat section stays in place during a slicing process, thereby reducing the risk of misalignment of the meat section with the blade. Thus, without such misalignments, there is a reduction in blade failures, shattered bones, bone fragments, and bone dust. Also, the securing mechanism reciprocates between securing the meat section for slicing and releasing it sufficiently for indexing toward the blade between slicing operations.

Eight bit data bytes representing the color of each pixel data are re-indexed for each pixel to seven or less bits, and a sub-palette stores the relationship between the re-indexed colors and the original eight-bit color values. The remaining bits in the byte store run lengths of pixels that have contiguous colors. Further data compression is achieved by grouping pixels into rows, eliminating any duplicate rows and identifying the pixel data by a series of row pointers. Still further compression is accomplished by dropping representations of transparent pixels from the end of rows and representing a number of transparent pixels at the beginning of rows with a single byte.

摘要： A process for making relatively thick foraminous members the foramina of which form a preselected pattern. The backing film such as a thermoplastic film is placed in contact with a rotating drum. A foraminous woven element about which the foraminous member will be constructed is placed in contact with the thermoplastic backing film. Liquid photosensitive resin is supplied to a controlled thickness. A mask comprising the preselected pattern is placed adjacent the photosensitive resin and the resin is exposed through the mask to the light of an activating wavelength. Uncured resin is washed from the composite leaving behind the completed foraminous member.
