摘要： Systems and methods for navigating program listings in a media guidance application are provided. A program listing may be displayed that corresponds to a first time period. A user request to change the first time period may be received. In response to the request to change the time period, a hopscotch display may be provided that gives the user access to a plurality of consecutive time periods from which the user can select to have corresponding program listings displayed. A user selection of one of the displayed time periods may be received and a second program listing corresponding to the selected time period may be displayed.

Embodiments include: gathering available content information related to particular content items from at least one source of a plurality of content sources via a data network; presenting, using a processor, a user interface including a search portal, the search portal being configured to receive a search query from a user platform; comparing the search query with the content information to identify matching content items; providing a digital representation of each of the matching content items; receiving a selection of one or more of the matching content items, the selection being in response to a user action performed on the digital representation corresponding to the one or more matching content items; and displaying an expanded dimension of information associated with the selected one or more matching content items in response to receiving the selection of the one or more matching content items, the expanded dimension of information including at least one user-selectable command option to obtain an additional level of detailed information related to the selected one or more matching content items.

In one exemplary embodiment, LU connections are preferably brought to the IP layer using HTTP commands and responses. These IP layer commands are used to communicate connection information among the LUs involved in the connection and to allow for LUs to determine which sub-devices within the LU will be used in a connection. When the specific details have been determined, the sink device will work at the network specific level to make the actual connection. This allows for the connections between LUs to be network independent until all of the specific details of the connection have been determined. After that, a connection is established using network specific commands and protocols.

The control system preferably includes a versatile icon based graphical user interface that provides a uniform, on-screen centralized control system for the network system. The user interface, which includes a visual recognition system, enables the user to transparently control multiple input devices over a variety of protocols while operating on a single control layer of an input command device. In an alternative embodiment, the control system also enables gated signal pass-through control while avoiding signal jamming.
