    • The invention provides a node for use in a wireless communication system comprising at least two Tx-chains and at least two Rx-chains. A first means for a switch and filter network function MSN is arranged across all Tx-chains. The first MSN is arranged to output one antenna sector signal comprising: a radio sector signal, or a split radio sector signal, the splitting of a radio sector signal allowing one radio sector signal to feed sector antennas in more than one sector, each sector having at least one sector antenna. The first or a second MSN can also be arranged across Rx-chains. The invention also provides a method to reduce power consumption in a node and a wireless communication system comprising the node.

    • A dual-polarized antenna (10) with good isolation between feed ports (13a, 13b) and high similarity with respect to the radiation patterns is provided. An antenna (10) includes a patch (11), four symmetrically arranged feed structures (12a-12d, 15), two feed ports (13, 13b) and a feed network (14). Radiation pattern similarity is obtained by the pair-wise symmetrical, orthogonal layout of the feed structures (12a-12d, 15). Good isolation between feed ports (13a, 13b) is achieved through a feed network (14) divided into two network parts (14a, 14b) where each network part (14a, 14b) is designed so that each coupling between a network part (14a, 14b) and a feed structure (12a12d, 15) belonging to the other polarization is cancelled by a mirrored coupling with the other feed structure (12a-12d, 15) belonging to the polarization. In addition, a network part (14a, 14b) is laid out so that its corresponding feed structures (12a-12d, 15) are fed with supporting signals of equal magnitude.

    • A method is provided for using an antenna array to create two beams (a first beam and a second beam). In one aspect, the method uses dual polarization beam forming, which allows for many degrees of freedom in designing a desired power pattern. The method is well suited for systems with multiple radio chains (e.g., systems with active antennas). The method is also well suited for multi-port systems such as TD-SCDMA. In some embodiments, the method produces two beams where (a) the shape of the power beam pattern for the first beam and the shape of the power beam pattern for the second beam are the same (or substantially the same) in a plurality of directions of interest and (b) the beams have orthogonal (or substantially orthogonal) polarizations in the coverage area.

    • An electronics unit for wireless transfer of signals, includes an antenna part, an electronics part, and a transmission circuit part. The electronics part is placed on a laminate with at least one substrate layer of a dielectric material. The substrate layer is made of a flexible material and forms a continuous unit, including a first part which supports the electronics part, a second part which supports the antenna part, and a third part which supports the transmission circuit part. The second part of the substrate is formed to shape a convex surface, which supports groups of at least one antenna element. Since the surface is curved, the groups cover different directions.
