    • A tyre pressure sensor for motor vehicles is inserted in the rim (12) of one of the wheels of the vehicle. The sensor has a reference pressure chamber (18) which is closed on the side nearest the tyre by an electrically conductive membrane (20) and which co-operates with an insulated contact pin (22) inserted centrally through the floor of the reference pressure chamber (18) and with an oscillating circuit connected to the contact pin (22). In order to detect a deformation of the membrane due to damage caused when the tyres are mounted as well as two or more different threshold values of the tyre pressure, in addition to the central contact pin (22) at least one additional insulated contact body (34) is inserted through the floor (19a) of the reference pressure chamber. On further deflection of the membrane, the additional contact body (34) touches the contact pin (22) thereby closing a second circuit.
