    • Embodiments are directed to an antenna builder and a method of building and maintaining an antenna design repository. A first embodiment consists of an antenna builder that enables the creation of an antenna representation that can subsequently be output into a plurality of formats to be used by other tools, such as electromagnetic simulation software. An alternative embodiment is directed to a method of building and maintaining a repository of antenna designs. The repository of antenna designs can be queried, enabling a plurality of users to search for specific antenna designs. Alternative embodiments can enable a user to search the repository antenna designs by visually browsing over the antenna designs in the repository. The repository of antenna designs is created by saving solutions generated by an optimizer during an optimization run to the repository. Solutions from the repository can also be used to seed and bootstrap other optimization runs.

    • Developer toner concentration in an electrophotographic system is measured. Two sensors (1120, 1130), one before and one after the toning zone (1110) in the direction of rotation of the development member (1171), each include respective electrodes that form a respective capacitance between the respective electrode and the development member. A voltage source (430) selectively applies respective AC biases across the sensors and the respective currents across the sensors are measured. A controller (1170) causes an electrostatic latent image to be produced on the photoreceptor (206) and causes the development member to rotate and the photoreceptor to move. While the development member is rotating, the processor receives the measured currents and computes toner concentration using the respective received currents and the pixel data. The developer flow rate can be adjusted, or toner added to the developer, in response to the determined toner concentration.

    • Flat field uniformity can be improved in images produced by an image development system having a development roller interposed between a supply of developer and an imaging element. A raw feed of developer is supplied from the developer supply to the development roller to produce both a metered feed of developer and an overfeed of developer, which is returned to the supply, from the raw feed. A plurality of mass densities of developer used in the system and a plurality of developer velocities through the system are determined, and respective product values of those developer mass densities and those developer velocities are thereafter calculated or otherwise determined. A maximum value of the respective product values is identified, and the image development system is then operated so that the maximum product value is produced.

    • Developer flow rate over a rotatable development member (7,10) in an electrophotographic system is measured. An electrode (4,15) and the development member define a capacitive working volume (4,20) between them through which developer moves. A voltage source electrically connected to the electrode and the development member selectively applies an AC bias across the working volume, and a meter (7,40) measures the currents across the working volume while the bias is applied. A controller causes the development member to stop supplying toner to the photoreceptor, and to rotate. While the development member is rotating, the controller records the current measured by the meter. Developer flow rate is computed using the measured current. The developer flow rate can be adjusted in response to the computed flow rate.
