    • A method for maintaining adjacent cell coordination between one or more adjacent cells and a wireless mobile communication device in a communication system, wherein non-programmed radio windows of a data frame are made available to receive control channel coordination bursts used in the initial or ongoing synchronization of the adjacent cell. In at least one embodiment, one or more programmed radio window of the data frame are reorganized, such as the placement of an adjacent channel power measurement burst between a downlink traffic burst and an uplink traffic burst, so as to increase the portion of the data frame, which is available for receiving control channel coordination bursts. In at least further embodiments, where there is no data to communicate as part of an uplink traffic burst, such as during a discontinuous data channel transmission, the portion of the data frame previously assigned to the uplink traffic burst is reclassified as a non- programmed radio window during which a control channel coordination burst can be received.
