摘要： Substantially pure basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF), a 146 amino acid residue polypeptide, is produced. The amino acid residue sequence of bFGF is disclosed as well as a DNA chain encoding the polypeptide. By appropriately inserting a synthesized DNA chain into a cloning vector and using the cloning vector to transform dells, synthetic bFGF can be obtained from transformed cell lines, both prokaryotic and eukaryotic. bFGF is a mitogenic factor for a wide variety of normal diploid mesoderm-derived and neural crest-derived cells.

摘要： This invention relates to antibodies, or immunologically active fragments thereof, specific for the N-terminal 15 amino acids of a mammalian VE-cadherin and which act as antagonists of VE-cadherin-mediated homophilic interactions between adjacent endothelial cells without adversely affecting normal vasculature. In a preferred embodiment, the antibodies are humanized antibodies directed that react with human VE-cadherin for use in a human. The invention also provides pharmaceutical compositions comprising these antibodies and antibody fragments, methods of preparing the antibodies, and methods of using the antibodies and antibody fragments to inhibit angiogenesis, inhibit tumor metastasis, or treat cell proliferative disorders.

摘要： The present invention includes the use of an antagonist of vascular endothelial growth factor receptor (VEGFR) in combination with an antagonist of vascular endothelial cadherin (VE-cadherin) to modulate angiogenesis. Included is the use of the VEGFR antagonist and the antagonist of VE-cadherin in a manner so as to prevent or ameliorate toxicity associated with the use of VE-cadherin antagonist. The present invention also comprises the use of a VEGFR antagonist and a VE-cadherin antagonist for treating, with reduced toxicity, diseases associated with angiogenesis, which include but are not limited to neoplastic diseases, autoimmune diseases and collagen vascular diseases, as well as the use of a VEGFR antagonist for the treatment of disease states associated with pathological vascular permeability which include, but are not limited to, ARDS, edema states and related conditions. Also included are compositions comprising a VEGFR antagonist, or a VEGFR antagonist and a VE-cadherin antagonist for treating such conditions.
