摘要： A mine roof support for use at a mineral face has a flushing screening shield arranged on its goaf side. The screening shield is in at least two parts one being an upper part and another a lower part, the parts being hingedly connected together by a hinge means having its axis lying in the longitudinal direction of the mineral face. The upper shield part is hingedly connected to the upper or roof-engaging structure of the support, preferably by a universal joint, and the lower shield part is hingedly connected to the base or lower part of the support by a hinge having its axis transverse to the longitudinal direction of the face. Thus, the screening shield is additionally pivotally movable laterally relatively to the support. In one preferred embodiment the axis of the hinge, connecting the lower screen part to the base or lower part of the screen, lies parallel to the floor of the mine and, when viewed from the longituidinal direction of the mineral face, is disposed approximately centrally of the support.

摘要： A self-advancing mine roof support has a first or main roof supporting member and a second roof supporting member movable relatively to said first roof supporting member in the direction of advance of the support. The second roof supporting member has laterally extensible means on elements for abutting similar extensible means or elements or an adjacent support. The abutting means or elements serve to guide the supports during their advance and also prevent the caving of the roof between adjacent supports. Conveniently the second roof supporting member constitutes a connecting element for connecting a roof-engaging member, at the forward part of the second roof supporting member, to the first or main roof supporting member, the first or main roof supporting member having guiding and pivotal supporting means for the second roof supporting member or connecting element. Conveniently the second roof supporting member or connecting element is of shieldlike construction so that, in conjunction with a shield-like construction of the rear of the base of the support, it prevents mineral flushing into the support. The second supporting member or connecting element may be supported on a prop which is tiltable towards the mineral face so as to advance the second roof supporting member.

摘要： A traction carriage for a cable railway having a traction cable off-set from the centre line of the track has two track-engaging trolleys connected by a beam which extends longitudinally of the track. A boom projects laterally from the beam adjacent to one trolley and a traction arm is pivotally mounted on the boom for movement relative thereto about a vertical axis which extends through the traction cable. The traction arm is connected to the cable and is so linked with the adjacent trolley that the portion of cable to which the traction arm is connected is maintained parallel to the centre line of the track.

Movement of the press moves a freely rotatable screw relative to a freely rotating nut of a screw-and-nut mechanism so both spin in opposite directions storing energy which is released when the movement of the press is arrested during deformation of the workpiece. Either the screw or nut moves with the movable part of the press and the other is immovable in a casing. No rotary impact couples are transmitted to the frame of the machine when the press is arrested.

摘要： A spindle press drive assembly using an electric motor''s rotor as an energy storing flywheel is characterized in that the electric power drives a second rotor acting as an energy storing flywheel and which is electromagnetically coupled to the first rotor so as to provide rotational energy therefor from the kinetic energy stored in the second rotor. The two rotors are disconnected at the end of the working stroke so that the second rotor remains rotating and only the energy of the first rotor is used during pressing. The two rotors may be coaxial or concentric and the second rotor may be independently rotated or rotated by electromagnetic forces between the two rotors. The disconnection can be achieved by a switch which senses the axial force occuring during deformation of a workpiece.
