摘要： A description is given of water-soluble aminoplast ether copolymers of the following structural type: where Z is an aminoplast unit based on a glycoluril which is unsubstituted or substituted by a reactive OR group (where R is an alkyl, alkylene, alkyl ether or alkyl ester group, preferably a lower alkyl group, e.g., a methyl or ethyl group); B is the radical of an essentially water-insoluble polymer selected from poly-n-butyl acrylate, poly-n-butyl methacrylate, polyethyl acrylate, polytetrahydrofuran, polyethyl methacrylate, polymethyl acrylate, polymethyl methacrylate, a predominantly aliphatic polycarbonate or a predominantly aromatic polycarbonate, and more preferably from a poly-n-butyl methacrylate or a predominantly aliphatic or aromatic polycarbonate having at least two functional groups which are able to react with the OR function of the aminoplast unit, preferably having a hydroxyl function; R1 is the radical of a hydrophilic organic compound containing at least one functional group which is able to react with the OR function of the aminoplast unit to form an ether bond, preferably having a hydroxyl function, and a is at least 1. A description is additionally given of a process for preparing the above aminoplast ether copolymers and also of their use as dispersants and stabilizers.

摘要： A description is given of water-soluble aminoplast ether copolymers of the following structural type: wherein Z is a glycoluril central unit, B is a radical of an essentially water-insoluble polymer and R1 is a radical of a hydrophilic organic compound. The ratio R1:B is selected within a range of about 1.5 to 4:1 and the overall mass of the water-soluble aminoplast ether copolymer is from about 2000 to 50 000 g/mol such that the copolymer is soluble in water and may be used as a dispersant for e.g. pigments in polar solvents, e.g. water.

摘要： The present development is an improved rheological additive for coating compositions comprising an organic solvent, a hydrocarbon wax thickener, and a dispersing agent. The dispersing agent is selected from oxidized, hyper-branched polyalphaolefins, polymeric amide-based hyperdispersants, and unsaturated fatty acids, and combinations thereof. The rheological additive can have a solids content of up to about 31 wt %. Further, these high solids content pourable additives can be prepare without adding water to the compositions.

摘要： The present development an improved organoclay composition comprising a mixture of quaternary ammonium compounds, wherein varying ratios of dimethyl dialkyl ammonium compounds and trimethyl monoalkyl ammonium compounds are reacted with smectite clay. It has been surprisingly observed that using a mixture of these quaternary ammonium compounds results in an organoclay that has a lower organic content than conventional organoclays, but that maintains the ability to be filtered during the manufacturing process and that can be effectively dispersed in a non-aqueous system.
