摘要： A liquid detection strip 1 for detecting and indicating the presence of liquid, having a first end 7, a second end 11 and a capillary flow path extending between them, the first end having an inlet into the flow path, the second end having an indicator which changes a characteristic in the presence of liquid. The strip may have an absorbent inner material 5, e.g. a fibrous, a woven material, paper, enclosed within an outer transparent polyethylene waterproof coating layer 5. The indicator may a hydrochromic ink spot 13 at a viewing region 13 which changes appearance e.g. colour when wet or moist. A method is disclosed wherein the strip is cut at cut line 9 to expose the inner material of the flow path immediately prior to use, the strip adhered to a toilet cistern tank, the first end located above a normal water line but below an overflow line, the second end located outside the cistern for viewing, to monitor float valve problems.

摘要： A container discharge controller is disclosed, that comprises a valve for retrofitting to a toilet syphon-type flush system. The valve comprises a flexible tube 20 that, during a flush operation, is bent, kinked, or otherwise distorted to prevent or significantly reduce fluid flow, but which resiliently returns to its original shape after a handle 6 or other mechanism to which it is connected is returned to its original position. In its original shape it allows air into the syphon and stops syphon action that is taking place, resulting in a reduced flush. Thus, by holding a flush lever 7 in an activated position a full flush is obtained, whereas by flushing and quickly returning the flush lever 7 to its resting position a partial flush is obtained. The flexible tube 20 may be supported by a supporting bracket 24 and may have a line 26 connected to the flush handle 6 or related mechanism. A later embodiment relates to a method of converting a syphon type toilet to a dual flush toilet.

摘要： A retrofittable dual flush system comprises a flapper valve with a rubber sealing bung 2, and a moveable actuator pin/weight 6, which moves dependent upon a float 5. The float is attached to the overflow pipe 1 by a fixed bracket/guide 4. A chain is attached to the bung at one end and to the handle or push button at the other. The system starts off with a full tank of water and a closed bung (Fig. 1). When the handle is depressed the chain lifts the valve (Fig. 2). As water empties out of the tank, the water level drops, and so does the level of the float, which subsequently causes the pin to be pushed down through the fixed bracket (Fig. 3). Eventually the pin contacts the bung, and pushes it down so as to seal the tank (Fig. 4). If a short flush is used the chain is released and the float drops, the actuator pin contacting the bung and pressing it down and sealing the outlet. If the handle is held down then the chain allows the bung to remain up, and a long flush can be facilitated. The device may be retrofitted to an existing toilet.

摘要： A self-repair system provides resource failure tolerance using an interconnection network that provides interconnection information identifying connections between system resources, redundant resources and ports that are connectable to consumers of the system resources. A controller identifies both defective system resources and the affected sinks connected to the defective system resources from the interconnection network. The controller further identifies compatible resources from the system resources and redundant resources that are capable of replacing the defective system resources for each of the affected sinks from the interconnection network. The controller determines a respective cost associated with each of the compatible resources, and in response to the determined costs, selects at least one of the compatible resources as a replacement resource for each of the defective system resources. The controller further configures the interconnection network to connect the replacement resources to the affected ports instead of the defective system resources.
