    • An image forming apparatus includes a carriage configured to scan with an ejection head for ejecting ink droplets that harden when exposed to active energy line onto a recording medium to form an image and an emitter unit for emitting the active energy line mounted thereon, and an image forming controller configured to control ejection of the ink droplets from the ejection head and scan of the carriage. The image forming controller forms an ink droplet film of an uppermost layer of an image made of multiple layers of ink droplet films with finer image quality than that of an ink droplet film of each lower layer other than the uppermost layer, and forms the ink droplet film of the each lower layer other than the uppermost layer with coarser image quality and in a shorter length of time than a length of time taken to form the uppermost layer.

    • A circuit device drives actuator elements respectively associated with a plurality of nozzles to cause droplets to be ejected from the nozzles. The circuit device includes input terminals; a receiving unit; a switching unit; and a transfer unit. The receiving unit receives, via the input terminals, input signals including a terminal arrangement signal and drive signals for driving the actuator elements. The terminal arrangement signal indicates a type of assignment of signals to be assigned to the input terminals. The switching unit switches the assignment of signals in accordance with the terminal arrangement signal. The transfer unit transfers, to the actuator elements, drive signals that are input to the input terminals after the assignment of signals has been switched.

    • According to an embodiment, provided is an image forming apparatus that includes: a print head that includes nozzles ejecting liquid droplets, and pressure generating units for ejecting liquid droplets; a drive waveform generating unit that generates and outputs a drive waveform given to the pressure generating units of the print head; a head drive unit that includes a switch unit connected to each pressure generating units, and a selection unit controlling the switch unit to be turned on and off in accordance with image data; a monitoring unit that monitors intermediate potential of the drive waveform; and a unit that outputs a signal for turning on all the switch units, if the monitoring unit detects that voltage is decreased to lower than a predetermined threshold in an interval between the drive waveform of one drive cycle and the drive waveform of a subsequent drive cycle.

    • A head drive control unit generates and outputs a pulse formed of a first expansion waveform element to expand individual liquid chambers, a first contraction waveform element to contract the individual liquid chambers, a second expansion waveform element to expand the individual liquid chambers, and a second contraction waveform element to return the individual liquid chambers that have repeatedly expanded and contracted to an initial state.
