    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detecting the arrival at planned target torque when release sound of a torque response release clutch occurs in a power wrench to provide the power wrench. SOLUTION: This method for detecting the arrival at a target torque level and the power wrench are used in a screw joint tightening process. The override type torque response release clutch 17 is used to delimit a target torque level in the power wrench. The power wrench is provided with a microphone 22 recording 'click' sound generated in the clutch 17 during release operation and mounted on the power wrench, a motor operation control means, a signal distinguishing device connected with the microphone 22 to recognize the release 'click' sound, and a control unit 20 transmitting a stop signal for interrupting power supply to release the clutch 17 and applying brake to a power wrench motor 15 when reaching the target torque level.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic power wrench, compact, simple in structure, easily operated, and comprising a power transmission integrally provided with a reversible reduction gear shiftable between a forward rotating state and a reverse rotating state. SOLUTION: A pneumatic power wrench is provided with a reduction gearing 20 shiftable to select the rotating direction of an output shaft and provided with a first planetary gearing 28 engageable in the forward direction of rotation and a second planetary gearing 29 engageable in the reverse direction of rotation. A sun gear 31 of the gearing 28 and a sun gear 39 of the gearing 29 are connected to each other and rotated, and the gearing 29 is provided with an inner set of planetary gears 37 and an outer set of planetary gears 38. Planetary gears 33 of the gearing 28 and both inner and outer sets of planetary gears 37, 38 are journalled on a common planetary gear carrier, and a ring gear 40 is axially shiftable between a forward rotating position in which it is meshed only with the planetary gears 33 of the gearing 28 and in a reverse rotating position in which it is meshed only with the gear set 38 of the gearing 29.
