    • Word processing equipment having a keyboard bearing a phonetic alphabet is disclosed. The phonetic alphabet comprises a set of characters with each character representing a single sound used in speech, including single characters equivalent to digraphs in Standard English. Each digraph comprises a single composite character composed of strokes characteristic of both of two letters of the digraph. In use the composite character can be recognised as relating to the digraph and the sound it represents. The alphabet further includes the use of different vowel characters to represent different sounds attributed to a vowel in Standard English. Each the vowel character includes strokes characteristic of the vowel. In use the vowel character can be recognised as relating to the vowel and a sound it represents and the same sound is always represented by the same character. Software includes a means to present an output which can be represented in the phonetic alphabet as described above and the phonetic alphabet itself is disclosed.

    • 1,043,378. Engine stop gear; indicating working conditions; preventing unauthorized use. A. G. LAWFORD. Oct. 16, 1964 [Nov. 15, 1963], No. 42406/64. Headings FIB and F1K. An attachment for an internal-combustion engine comprises an electrical relay contained within a container the relay being electrically connected in the ignition circuit of the engine to the normally provided generator or alternator coil, distributer and oil pressure switch of the engine and being so provided as to prevent normal functioning of the engine in the event of the oil pressure falling below a pressure for safe working of the engine In Fig. 5 the relay 3 when operated by electrical current in the relay circuit due to insufficient oil pressure as indicated by the oil pressure switch OPS causes opening of the contacts in the relay switch 4 to stop the current in the ignition circuit of the engine The relay 3 may also have included in its circuit a connection leading to an audible and/or visible warning means 12 such as a buzzer or bell and/or light. The engine may be permitted to turn over or idle but when pressure is applied to the accelerator pedal (not shown) open circuiting may prevent the engine speed from increasing. It is stated that the relay may be set by operation of a switch to serve as a theft prevention device.
