    • PURPOSE: A super conducting single photon detector is provided to enhance a photo detector by supplying a signal photon and time separating detector having a fine quantum effect with respect to a photon on a wave length from a visible ray spectrum area to a far infrared radiation spectrum area. CONSTITUTION: An SSPD(super conducting single photon detector)(12) is an NbN(niobium nitride) film having 200-nm width, 1-micrometer length, and a 5-nm thickness. A light source(11) outputs an optical pulse(16) to a beam splitter(62). The beam splitter(62) divides a beam into an attenuator(63) and a photo detector(64). The light source(11) generates a short optical pulse per about 76MHz in the case of a mode lock IR laser from a coherent laser group. The light source(11) generates a short optical pulse per about 82MHz in the case of a mode lock laser from a spectra-physics(tsunami laser). A wavelength of the photon from the light source(11) is about 810nm. The attenuator(63) is a series of suction filters used for decreasing the number of photons which is being inputted on the SSPD(12) less than an average one photon per a pulse.
