    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water stop material for an expansion device, which allows a resin foam to be uniformly deformed as much as possible in accordance with the expansion and contraction of the expansion device, and further can maintain the whole top face thereof in a flat shape.SOLUTION: A body 10 of the water stop material comprises the resin foam having open cells. A water stop film 12 is embedded in the body 10 of the water stop material. The water stop film 12 is formed into such a wave shape as to go and return in a vertical direction toward a direction along an expansion and contraction direction of an expansion device 1. A water stop material 5 is arranged in an expansion gap 4 of a web in the expansion device 1. The waved water stop film 12 is expanded and contracted in bellows form with respect to the expansion and contraction of the expansion device 1.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the sliding friction resistance of a telescopic cover device of a machine tool.SOLUTION: The telescopic cover device includes: a telescopic cover 2 which is freely reciprocatable in conjunction with the reciprocation movement of a sliding part of a machine tool, in order to protect the sliding part from chips, dust, cutting oil and the like; and wipers 3 provided at ends of respective partial covers 2a-2d of the telescopic cover and removing chips, dust, cutting oil and the like dropping on sliding faces of adjacent partial covers 2b-2e. A large number of fine linear grooves 4 are formed on the sliding faces of the respective partial covers and friction-reducing film 5 is formed on the sliding faces. As a result, the contact areas with the wipers 3 is made small thereby reducing the sliding friction resistance and the sliding resistance is further reduced by the friction-reducing film 5.
