    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a practical wall surface greening system that allows very easy maintenance.SOLUTION: A planter 2 held almost sealed by covering at least its portion where roots exist with a heat insulating material and covering its opening with a roof-like member is installed on the rooftop of a building with its end facing the wall surface side, and a drooping plant 1 is planted. The plant 1 is made to extend its culm and leaves from spaces 8 in the roof-like member so that its root portion is isolated from the influences of external temperature changes and sunlight, while enough sunlight can be secured for the culm and leaves. Also, the planter 2 is sealed to prevent drying and intrusion of uncontrollable water such as rainwater and weed seeds to bring it close to a maintenance-free state.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wall surface greening system composed of a medium which facilitates growth and maintenance of planting even if it is used for wall surface greening in which a medium volume is limited, and a watering system.
SOLUTION: This wall surface greening system includes making a medium unit 1 by molding a medium which contains granular zeolite, vermiculite, and other ingredients followed by holding in a frame, accumulating only a necessary number of the medium units on a water receiving tray 2 followed by assembling, setting on the water receiving tray 2, an intermittent type water-refilling device 4 which automatically supplies water according to change of the water level of the water receiving tray 2, and continuously maintaining an appropriate moist condition of soil of the medium unit 1. Planting 3 which is applied to the medium unit is properly maintained in a supply condition of water and air to roots, so roots do not grow exceedingly, and a healthy condition can be maintained even in a medium of a limited volume.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for giving plantation to places which are not conventionally greened, such as car-track lanes of railway lines so as to contribute to suppressing heat island phenomena in urban areas and global warming.
SOLUTION: A greening system is configured such that a biodegradable high-molecular material 3 with water retention is filled, for instance, in part of the void of a ballast of a car-track lane of a railway line, and plantation of creeping, vine and crawling plants is performed using the product as virtual soil. The growth of invading weeds can be suppressed by sunshine blockade through overgrowth of leaves 2 of creeping plants, and loss of soil through decomposition of the biodegradable high-molecular material 3. It is possible to use for planting work a method of spraying a slurry mixture in which seeds or organisms of creeping plants and the biodegradable high-molecular material 3 are dispersed.
