    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber sensor to easily detect whether a workpiece exists and to reduce an installation cost by dividing and constituting fiber on its side connected to an amplifier and fiber disposed close to the workpiece. SOLUTION: This optical fiber sensor detects whether the workpiece W exists in such a manner that light emitted by a light emitting element on the amplifier 1 side is irradiated to the workpiece W through fiber and that reflection light from the workpiece W is detected by a light receiving element on the amplifier 1 side through the fiber. The fiber comprises a first fiber part 2 connected to the amplifier 1, and a second fiber part 3 separated from the first fiber part 2 with its tip end directed to a disposition place of the workpiece W to be detected. A tip end of the first fiber part 2 and a base end of the second fiber part 3 make contact with or come close to each other to form an optical path while the fiber parts 2 and 3 can part from each other.
