    • PURPOSE: To react phosphorus with crustacean shell waste through struvite crystallization reaction between calcium(or magnesium) ions released from crustacean shell waste and phosphorus by passing sewage/wastewater through a filter bed comprising crustacean shell waste, thereby removing phosphorus from sewage/wastewater. CONSTITUTION: Sewage and wastewater flow in an upper part of a sewage and wastewater storage tank(2) through a sewage and wastewater inflow port(1), and heavy solids in the sewage and wastewater are settled on a lower part of the sewage and wastewater storage tank. The sewage and wastewater passing through the sewage and wastewater storage tank flow in a flow equalization tank(3) as a filter bed comprising a gravel layer(5) formed in a lower part of the filter bed and consisted of gravels having diameter of 3 cm or more so that sewage and wastewater smoothly pass through the gravel layer and a crustacean shell waste layer(4) formed on an upper part of the gravel layer and consisted of crustacean shell waste having diameter of 1 cm or more. Sewage and wastewater are transferred to a biological treatment unit(6) using a transfer device such as air transfer pump after sewage and wastewater are stayed in the flow equalization tank for 12 hours or more. Phosphorus in sewage and wastewater is removed by reaction of sewage and wastewater with crustacean shell waste, and sewage and wastewater passing through the biological treatment unit is discharged to the outside through a sewage and wastewater discharge port(7).
