摘要： A multi-leaflet valve (15) adapted to serve as a prosthesis for diseased native valve of a mammal is incorporated in self-expandable or inflatable endovascular stents or stents (27,28) to form a combination which is introduced on a catheter with a guide wire into the circulatory system of the mammal to replace the diseased native valve. Once the combination is at the desired location the stent is caused to expand and affix itself to the patient's vessel wall. The prosthetic valve has the shape of a truncated cone that has an inflow and an outflow orifice with leaflets forming the outflow orifice and forming a plurality of commissures. A first flexible circular support (17) is affixed in a substantially circular fashion around the truncated cone in proximity of the inflow orifice, and a second flexible circular support (18) is affixed at the location of the commissures to form a circle around the truncated cone in proximity of the outflow orifice. The circular supports maintain the shape of the valve during the surgical implantation procedure and thereafter.

摘要： A free-flowing solid formulations of drugs or pharmaceutical agents which have poor aqueous solubility are obtained by admixing a liquid or gel composition that includes 1 to 30 per cent by weight of the drug, 5 to 60 per cent by weight of a surfactant, 10 to 40 per cent by weight of water; 1 to 20 per cent by weight of unsaturated fatty acid ester, 0 to 50 per cent by weight water miscible pharmaceutically acceptable polyol and 1 to 10 per cent by weight of phospholipid with a pharmaceutically acceptable suitable solid carrier and thereafter drying the admixture. The freeflowing powder is suitable for being formed into tablets or capsules. The drug or pharmaceutical agent is solubilized in the formulation and has significantly improved bio-availability when compared to the drug tested in its pure form.

摘要： A clear aqueous formulation for topical application in the oral cavity of humans to treat leukoplakia contains water, ß-carotene, a water miscible polyol, an unsaturated fatty acid ester, and a surfactant, preferably polyethoxylated castor oil or POE(20) sorbitan monooleate. The formulation preferably also contains a pharmaceutically acceptable anti-oxidant, preferably d-alpha-tocopherol (vitamin E), and is in the form of an oral rinse or as a gel well suited for spreading on gums or other parts of the oral cavity. The formulation is applied in a gel form on a substantially regular daily basis to areas in the oral cavity where leukoplakia lesions are present. Persistent application of the gel results in substantial diminution or total elimination of the leukoplakia lesions.

摘要： Among the four heart valves, the mitral is the most frequently affected by disease resulting in defective valve opening (stenosis) or incomplete closure (insufficiency). Most often this is due to distortion of the valve apparatus secondary to rheumatic or degenerative disease. These lesions, called "organic" require open heart surgery. In patients with coronary disease or with dilated cardiomyopathy the mitral valve can be insufficient although structurally normal. These valves are "functionally" insufficient. Because of the poor condition of these patients where open heart surgery carries a significant operative risk, less invasive percutaneous alternatives are being explored today. The present novel invention represents a radical departure from other procedures because it repositions the posterior papillary muscle utilizing a device located in the interventricular veins.

摘要： Four proteins are obtained from H. pylori bacteria each of which has regions which act as antigens specific to H. pylori . The proteins are isolated, purified and designated HP1, HP2, HP3, and HP4 with respective molecular weights of 32 kd, 30 kd, 23 kd and 15 kd. An assay, a method and a kit is developed utilizing a combination of at least three of these protein to detect the presence of antibodies to H. pylori in human sera.
