摘要： The present invention discloses a system (100) and method for adaptive adjustment of bit budget based on the content of the input image sequence. In one embodiment, two encoders (110, 120) are employed in a dual pass encoding system. A first encoder (110) receives the input image sequence and encodes each frame of the image sequence using a standard or any predefined encoding algorithms. Specifically, by encoding the image sequence using the first encoder (110), the first encoder (110) is able to assess the complexity of each picture in the image sequence, e.g., by measuring the number of bits needed to encode each picture. This complexity information serves as look-ahead information for a second encoder (120).

摘要： A system for restricting playback of an electronic presentation, such as a digital video or song. The system uses a playback time limit that specifies a duration of allowable playback time. The playback time limit is typically longer than the running time of the presentation so that a user is able to use standard transport controls such as pause, stop, rewind, fast forward, etc., that affect the overall playback time needed to view the presentation in its entirety. One approach uses a secure time base that is provided by a server over a network to a client device that includes a playback device. The secure time base is received and used by secure processing within the playback device. This approach allows rendering of the presentation to an output device to be performed by non-secure processing without unduly compromising the security of the system.

摘要： A system and method for audio splicing (insertion) of an Ad audio stream in the compressed domain, where variable early delivery of the Ad audio stream and variable bit rate are allowed, without creating audio distortion, glitches, or other digital artefacts or errors, in the resultant audio stream is disclosed. The present system and method provides for a splice delay buffer which delays the first five Ad audio frames until transmission of the last frame of the primary audio stream, but before the splice time. Subsequent Ad audio frames are delayed by a fixed amount, where the fixed amount is greater than the frame delay of the primary audio stream, to allow for ease of splice back to the primary audio stream.
