The fire extinguishment apparatus may include dry chemical, clean agent and water nozzles joined to a housing. The dry chemical nozzle may be a multi-stage nozzle configured to discharge consolidated dry chemical with a substantial charge. The dry chemical nozzle may include chamber segments formed from aluminum, collars formed from stainless steel and positioned between the chamber segments, and a flow disruptor. At least some chamber segments may include rifled surfaces. The dry chemical nozzle may be positioned within the water nozzle to allow water discharged from the water nozzle to at least partially encompass dry chemical discharged from the dry chemical nozzle or positioned offset from the water nozzle to allow for parallel discharge of water and dry chemical streams from the fire extinguishment apparatus.

    • A water or wastewater treatment system to reduce phosphorous or other pollutant concentrations in water or wastewater may include an optional primary treatment stage in fluid communication with a biological secondary treatment stage. The secondary treatment stage may, in turn, be fluidly connected with a tertiary treatment stage, which may include a chemical treatment portion for reducing phosphorous or other pollutants to desired levels. The precipitated phosphorous and other solids or sludge produced from the chemical treatment portion may be recycled upstream for reuse in the primary, secondary, and/or tertiary treatment stages. Such recycle may reduce the amount of added chemicals required in the tertiary treatment stage to phosphorous or other pollutants to desired amounts.

    • A method and apparatus for processing an audio sound source to create four-dimensional spatialized sound. A virtual sound source may be moved along a path in three-dimensional space over a specified time period to achieve four-dimensional sound localization. A binaural filter for a desired spatial point is applied to the audio waveform to yield a spatialized waveform that, when the spatialized waveform is played from a pair of speakers, the sound appears to emanate from the chosen spatial point instead of the speakers. A binaural filter for a spatial point is simulated by interpolating nearest neighbor binaural filters chosen from a plurality of pre-defined binaural filters. The audio waveform may be processed digitally in overlapping blocks of data using a Short-Time Fourier transform. The localized sound may be further processed for Doppler shift and room simulation.
