摘要： An optical disk drive which discriminates whether a light spot is incident on a groove or on an area therebetween by eliminating a pulse that appears in a binary envelope signal when the light spot passes a level section. The elimination is carried out based on an ODF section detecting signal, the ODF section detecting signal being a level section detecting signal which is produced by detecting a level section (ODF section) of the optical disk. The detection is carried out by differentiating an envelope signal, which is the envelope of an electric signal corresponding to the amount of light reflected from the optical disk. Accordingly, even if the optical disk in use has interrupted grooves, the optical head can be accurately moved to a desired track located on a land or on a groove.

摘要： An information recording and reproducing device having an automatic gain control device wherein its amplification degree is adjusted according to an AGC voltage varying with an amplitude of a reproduced signal. The automatic gain control device has a holding circuit which holds the AGC voltage in each of recording and erasing operations, and also holds the AGC voltage in reproducing an un-recorded area of information. The AGC voltage is also used for determining an optimum recording condition for a recording medium. Instead of the holding circuit, by installing a limiter circuit for limiting an amplitude of a reproduced signal, and by the use of a transient response of the reproduced signal due to an ac coupling situated before the limiter circuit, an appropriate amplification degree can also be obtained in the automatic gain control device. Further, the limiter circuit which is disposed at a stage before a reproduction circuit and also before a capacitor having the ac coupling, may restrain influence of the transient response of the ac coupling given on the reproduced signal, thereby making it possible to reproduce a signal with small amplitude immediately after recording or erasing operation.

摘要： In an optical recording medium driving apparatus, only a frequency component corresponding to pits of an ID portion (4) is detected from a total signal representing a total amount of reflected light from an optical disc (1) by a high pass filter (30). With this frequency component clamped so that a potential at a maximum point becomes a definite potential, a changed amount of light of the total signal corresponding to pits is detected and a phase pit signal is generated. In response to this phase pit signal, a signal component corresponding to pits is removed from the total signal, thereby generating a pit removal signal.

摘要： An information reproducing apparatus which has a rotative driving means for rotating a disc-shaped recording medium (21), a floating-type head (15) for reproducing information recorded in the recording medium (21) while floating above the disc-shaped recording medium (21) that is being rotated by the rotative driving means, and a suspension (26), made of an elastic member, for supporting the floating-type head (15). The information reproducing apparatus is characterized in that the floating-type head (15) has a slider (51) which is floated by an air flow that is directed near the surface of the rotating disc-shaped recording medium (21), and that the slider (51) has a bevelled portion (51a) at one side that faces the outer edge of the disc-shaped recording medium (21) such that any contact between the slider and the ridge (21d) that exists along the outer edge area of the disc-shaped recording medium (21) is virtually eliminated. Since the slider (51) is virtually free from contacting the ridge (21d) that exists along the outer edge area of the disc-shaped recording medium (21), the storage capacity of the disc-shaped recording medium (21) can be more effectively used.

摘要： The optical recording medium driving apparatus has a first high-pass filter (22) for outputting a low frequency component removed signal by removing a low frequency component from a reproduction signal varying depending on a reflected light beam from the optical recording medium (1). The low frequency component removed signal changes due to transient response just after an access operation starts. Zero voltage is input to a second high-pass filter (28) during a tracking operation while a voltage having a negative polarity which is substantially the same amplitude as the AC component of the low frequency component removed signal is input to the second high-pass filter (28). The first high-pass filter (22) has the same time constant as the second high-pass filter (28). Just after the access operation starts, the negative voltage has the same transient response as the output of the first high-pass filter (22). The output of the first high-pass filter (22) is compared to the output of the second high-pass filter (28) in order to have a binary signal of a binary logic condition. A land is discriminated from a groove according to the binary signal, thereby enabling accurate access to a target track.

摘要： An information recording and reproducing device uses a disk-shaped recording medium which is rotated at a constant angular velocity. The recording medium is divided into a plurality ring-shaped zones of concentric circles. In a recording area of the recording medium, the number of sectors per track is uniform in each zone and the number of sectors increases from an innermost zone towards an outermost zone. Each sector has a header area wherein header information including address information is recorded and a data area wherein data is recorded. In this device, data is recorded and reproduced in the data area in accordance with clock signals whose frequencies increase from the innermost zone towards the outermost zone. This device has a first clock generating circuit for generating a first clock signal of a fixed frequency, and the header information is recorded and reproduced in the header area in accordance with the first clock signal. This device also has a second clock generating circuit for generating a second clock signal having a frequency for recording and reproducing data which varies to correspond to the respective zones, and a control circuit for controlling the frequency of the second clock signal, according to reproduced header information, to correspond to a zone wherein data being recorded or reproduced.
