    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve the synchronization of projected illumination with a rolling shutter when taking an image via a CMOS image sensor. SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus has an illumination assembly having a plurality of radiation sources and projection optics, which are configured to project radiation from the radiation sources onto respective regions with different views. An image forming assembly in the imaging apparatus has an image sensor and an objective optics, which are configured to form the optical image of a view on the image sensor, and the image sensor has an array of sensor elements arranged in multiple groups, and captures radiation from respective regions with different views by being triggered with the rolling shutter during each of successive exposure periods so as to form the electronic image of a view. A controller in the imaging apparatus is connected to the radiation sources to sequentially activate them in the pulse mode so that the illumination assembly illuminates the respective regions with different views in synchronization with the rolling shutter.
