    • An electric drill is prevented from operating when failure of electric power during a drilling operation is restored to normal and when breaking of a coil in an electromagnet occurs. When failure of electric power is restored to normal in a state, in which a switch (50) is switched so as to energize an electromagnet and an electric drill, a photocoupler (38) operates to actuate a thyristor (31) and inhibit an on-operation of a transistor (35). As a result, a motor (16) of the electril drill will not operate before the electromagnet does. Also, abnormality of a coil (27) is judged on the basis of that abnormality of electric potential across a resistor (28), which is detected by a potential difference judging circuit (30). When abnormality is detected, the thyristor (31) is actuated and on-operation of the transistor (35) is inhibited. As a result, the electric drill will not operate when its operation is not permitted by the electromagnet.

    • When a start switch (SW3) is depressed, a one-shot multivibrator circuit (15) is actuated to output one pulse. When the pulse enters a self-holding circuit (16), the self-holding circuit (16) is self-held to output an H-level signal until reset. As a result, a transistor (17) is turned on to actuate a relay (R1) for lowering a ram. When the ram reaches the lower limit position, a lower limit switch (LS4) is opened, so that a signal from a one-shot multivibrator circuit (18) causes a self holding circuit (21) to self-hold an H-level signal. The signal is delayed by a delay circuit (22) to turn a transistor (23) on. Therefore, a relay (R2) for raising the ram is actuated. Restarting will not be effected due to the operation of the one-shot multivibrator circuit (15) even when the start switch is kept depressed. Also, the service life of a valve changeover mechanism can be extended owing to the operation of the delay circuit (22). Further, erroneous operations can be prevented by operations of a delay circuit (19) and an AND circuit (24) even when the lower limit switch (LS4) chatters.

The boring of a work is done by using a smaller-diameter punching portion (1a) formed at a front end of a punch (1) fixed to a press. A hole (11) thus made by press molding has an opened lower end with a broken-out section. A tapering surface is formed on the inner side of the hole (11) by plastic machining by a tapering machining portion (1b), which has a diameter somewhat larger than that of the hole and a tapering surface (T), with this hole (11) used as a guide. Due to this plastic machining operation, a burn portion (3a) is going to be formed at an outer circumferential edge portion of the hole (11) but the actual formation of such a portion (3a) is prevented by a holding portion (1c) formed on the punch (1). If these steps are carried out by a single pressing operation, a through hole having a plurality of tapering sectional shapes can be molded more simply.
