摘要： A process for preparing a powder containing a water-soluble vitamin which is directly compressible into a tablet prepared by spray drying (a) an aqueous slurry of a water-soluble vitamin and a binder; (b) preferably an adsorbent; and (c) a lubricant. Particularly useful water-soluble vitamins are ascorbic acid, sodium ascorbate, and calcium ascorbate. The unique feature of the process is that the lubricant is spray-dried along with the other components. The invention also relates to powders prepared by this process. The powders are directly compressible into tablets and will not demix.

摘要： Rigid, solid, non-cellular, urethane polymer compositions can be prepared which are the reaction product of at least one polyhydric alcohol with at least one organic polyisocyanate in the presence of a low molecular weight urethane modifier adduct which is the reaction product prepared, for instance, by reacting (1) at least one polyisocyanate and at least one monohydric alcohol or (2) at least one monofunctional isocyanate with at least one monohydric or polyhydric alcohol. Said adduct can also consist of mixtures of (1) and (2). Such polymers when prepared in the presence of any catalyst for urethane formation which is a liquid or solid at ambient temperature, set quickly to solid, rigid polymers having a density of at least one gram per cubic centimeter. They can be demolded after combining the materials, without the addition of heat from an external source, within a period of less than one minute to about 15 minutes. By proper selection of the urethane modifier adduct, flame-retardant polymers can be prepared.

摘要： Modified benzyl ether-containing resole polyols derived from phenol, paraformaldehyde and an aliphatic hydroxyl compound are prepared using a metal derivative as a catalyst. These polyols react with organic polyisocyanates to yield closed cell, low friability, low combustibility, rigid polyurethane foams without the need for post curing at elevated temperature. They are also useful in the preparation of modified rigid polyisocyanurate foams.

Polyurethane isocyanurate foams prepared from the reaction of these isocyanates with active hydrogen compounds seiected from the group consisting of diethyiene glycol and ethylene oxide adducts of trimethylolpropane, trimethylolethane, and glycerine exhibit good K-factors, low friability and low smoke density.

摘要： Water-based hydraulic fluids and metalworking lubricants are disclosed which are thickened with a polyether polyol having a molecular weight of about 1000 to about 75,000 modified with an alpha-olefin epoxide having about 12 to about 18 carbon atoms. Unexpectedly, synergistic thickening results from a combination of said polyether polyol with the components of a water-based hydraulic fluid or metalworking lubricant. The particularly effective components of the hydraulic fluid or metalworking lubricant are the phosphate ester and water-soluble amine corrosion inhibitor components. The hydraulic fluid and metalworking fluids of the invention also contain a water-soluble polyoxyethylated ester of an aliphatic acid and a monohydric or polyhydric aliphatic alcohol, either one or both said acid and said alcohol being polyoxyethylated, a sulfurized molybdenum or antimony compound and a metal deactivator as well as other adjuvants conventional in this art.

摘要： There are disclosed graft polyesters useful as adhesives and coatings and especially useful in processes for sizing spun and continous filament synthetic organic and inorganic fibrous yarn. One embodiment of the invention is a textile size composition having free carboxyl groups which is prepared in situ on a textile yarn by the application of heat or radiation to a mixture of an unsaturated polyester reactant and a monovinyl monomer reactant comprising an acidic monovinyl monomer having at least one carboxyl group or mixtures thereof with any monovinyl monomer. Desizing can be accomplished by partial neutralization of the size to a pH of at least 6 by reacting the size with a base to render the graft polyester water-dispersible or water-soluble. Also disclosed are cross-linked graft polyesters obtained by reacting an unsaturated polyester with at least one polyunsaturated vinyl monomer.
