    • A mining machine includes a frame, a first fluid tank, a second fluid tank, a valve, and a control system. The first fluid tank is supported on the frame proximate a first end, and the second fluid tank is supported on the frame proximate a second end. The valve permits fluid communication between the first and second fluid tanks when the valve is in a first position, and prevents fluid communication between the first and second fluid tanks when the valve is in a second position. The control system includes a first sensor detecting an amount of fluid in the first tank, a second sensor detecting an amount of fluid in the second tank, and a controller. The controller moves the valve to the first position when the difference between the amounts of fluid in the first and second tanks a predetermined threshold.

    • A shearer system for removing material along a mineable distance relative to a mining environment includes a rail assembly to support movement of a shearer carriage thereon. The system further includes a haulage motor structured and arranged to move the shearer carriage along the rail assembly. The system has a rotatably driven cutter that is positionable relative to the shearer carriage. The system further includes an actuator supported by the shearer carriage for changing a cutting height of the cutter. The system further includes a controller that can control a velocity of the shearer carriage based on a translation speed of the cutter, a maximum speed of the shearer carriage, a current cutter height, and a desired cutter height. Optionally, the controller can further control the velocity of the shearer carriage based on a predetermined stopping distance of the shearer carriage.

    • A seam-mining apparatus has an excavating trough disposed ahead of a conveying trough and an endless chain passes over direction-change devices between these troughs. The excavating and/or conveying tools carried by the chain are articulated and formed with a head portion, an intermediate portion and an end portion. The intermediate portion is connected to the head portion and end portion by pin joints whose axes are perpendicular to the chain and to the bottom of the conveyor trough, and hinge joints whose axes are orthogonal to the axes of the pin joints. The guides for the head and end portions of the troughs extend into the direction-change regions.

    • A mineral winning machine in the form of a coal plough has adjustable floor cutters. To set the floor cutters at different heights use is made of arcuate levers as carriers for the floor cutters which are slidably guided as known per se. Eccentric stop members engage on the upper ends of the levers and are rotatable to bring different faces into engagement with the levers. Locking means holds each stop member in its rotational setting and the locking means can be released for re-setting by axial displacement of the stop member against a spring force.
