    • A focus detection apparatus provided with a reimaging optical system for forming a pair of secondary objective images capable of changing the relative positions with each other, an iris member having a pair of apertures for controlling the light beam passing through the reimaging optical system, and a condenser lens for projecting the apertures of the iris member onto the exit pupil of the photographing lens. The reimaging optical system is structured by an optical member having the optical axis which is different from the optical axis of the photographing lens in a space between the iris member and the condenser lens, and further, the two apertures which are paired on the iris member have circular arc portions respectively at the furthest positions from the optical axis of the photographing lens, and the centers of the two circular arcs are arranged to be different from each other.

    • A device for adjusting the focus adjusting state of an objective lens includes a lens assembly having a field lens located in the vicinity of a predetermined imaging plane of the objective lens, and a pair of secondary imaging lenses. A line connecting the optical axes of the pair of secondary imaging lenses is located off the optical axis of the objective lens. A main body is provided for supporting the lens assembly and a light receiving sensor device is provided for receiving light distributions passing through the pair of secondary imaging lenses. A holding structure is provided for movably supporting the light receiving sensor device on the main body. Such structure allows accurate focusing of objects both on and off the optical axis of the objective lens.

    • In a focus detecting device, a plurality of distributions of quantity of light regarding the image of an object to be photographed are formed by optical means disposed on the image plane side of an objective lens by the use of light beams passed through different areas of the pupil of the objective lens. The relative positional relation between the plurality of distributions of quantity of light is found by light receiving means, and the in-focus state of the objective lens is found by the use of a signal from the light receiving means. The optical means has at least three pairs of secondary imaging lenses each forming a pair of light distributions corresponding to the image of the object to be photographed, and is constructed so that at least two of the light segments passing through the vertices of the lens surfaces of the pairs of secondary imaging lenses intersect each other and at least one other light segment does not intersect.
