    • PURPOSE:To obtain the subject molding which can shrink within a short time even at a low temperature merely by absorbing moisture and is capable of package, etc., suited for the shape of an irregularly shaped article, by stretching a mixture of a hydrophilic resin with a thermoplastic resin. CONSTITUTION:A moisture-shrinking resin molding is obtained by stretching a mixture of a hydrophilic resin (a nonionic resin, an anionic resin, a cationic resin or an amphoteric resin) with a thermoplastic resin (particularly desirably one containing an acrylic ester elastomer), e.g. starch/polymethyl methacrylate mixture. This molding can be conveniently used without requiring any special shrinking apparatus and can shrink within a short time when it absorbs moisture even at a low temperature. When an irregularly shaped article is wrapped with the molding in the form of a film and left under high humidity conditions, the film can shrink in conformity with the shape of the article and can pack it. Therefore, the molding can be used for a heat-sensitive article to which any conventional shrinking resin composition cannot be applied.

    • PURPOSE:To improve the anti-leakage property of a battery and to maintain the discharge property stable for a long period by using a sulfonic water- absorbent resin and/or a nonionic water-absorbent resin as the main component of an electrolyte gelling agent of a manganese dry battery. CONSTITUTION:A sulfonic water-abosorbent resin and/or a nonionic water- abosorbent resin are used as the main component of the catalyst gelling agent. As the sulfonic water-absorbent resin, can be used a water absorbent resin or the like which is made by polymerizing a vinyl monomer A including a sulfonic radical, a copolymer type bridging agent B, and a nonionic vinyl monomer C and/or another anion type vinyl monomer D when necessary, and may be neutralized or partially neutralized with an alkaline compound. Such a gelling agent and a manganese dry battery using such a gelling agent present a good liquid-absorbent and viscosity promoting properties to both a zinc chloride electrolyte and an ammonium chloride/zinc chloride mixture electrolyte.

    • PURPOSE:To enable the food tray to have the functions to absorb dripping from food, thawing water and condensed dews by providing the tray with small holes or slits through which liquid can pass on the food-contacting face and with moisture retention and water absorption layers on the outer faces with which the food does not contact. CONSTITUTION:A food tray made of a moisture-impermeable material such as a thermoplastic resin 1 has small holes or slit 2 through which liquid can pass formed on its faces contacting with the food and has the water absorption and moisture retention layer 3 formed on a part or the whole part of the outer faces which does not contact with the food. The water absorption and water retention layers 3 may be a laminated material which comprises a layer of water absorption polymer on the side contacting with the small holes or slits and another moisture-impermeable material on the outer face of the water absorption polymer layer, or may be another laminated material which comprises a water-insoluble and moisture-permeable material on the side contacting with the small holes or slits, the water absorption polymer layer, as an intermediate layer, and water-impermeable layer on its outer face.
