    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transfer device capable of preventing the occurrence of an abnormal image due to curling or the like while suppressing the increase of cost due to the increase of the number of parts. SOLUTION: The transfer device is provided with: a belt 3 which is laid around rolls 3A and 3C installed side by side to form a horizontally spread surface H; a plurality of transfer members 8 and 8' which are arranged along the spread surface H inside a circumferential range of the belt 3; a plurality of photoreceptors 4 and 4' which face respectively the transfer member 8 and 8' with the spread surface H between; and a supporting means 100 which supports rockably the roll 3C positioned in the upstream side in the moving direction of the spread surface H and the transfer member 8' other than the transfer member 8 being the closest to the roll 3A positioned in the downstream side in the moving direction of the spread surface H among the rolls forming the spread surface H. The supporting means 100 is constituted so that the belt 3 is made nearer to and away from the photoreceptor 4' remaining the transfer member 8 which is in the closest position to the roll 3A in the downstream side in the moving direction of the spread surface H in a state where the roll 3C positioned in the upstream side in the moving direction of the spread surface H is installed on a rocking end.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus equipped with a cleaning device which improves the cleanability without increasing the number of components.
      SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: an intermediate transfer belt 20; a cleaning blade 27 which cleans the intermediate transfer belt 20 in contact with the belt 20; a conductive holder 28 which supports the cleaning blade 27; a drive roller 21 disposed opposite the cleaning blade 17 with the intermediate transfer belt 20 between them; and a cleaning device 25 which has a power source for applying a bias with the same polarity as that of toner on the intermediate transfer belt 27 to the drive roller 21 and generates an electric field between the holder 28 and the drive roller 21, thereby cleaning the intermediate transfer belt 20. This weakens electrostatic attraction force between the intermediate transfer belt 20 and toner and improves the cleanability of the belt with the cleaning blade 27.
