摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a thin casting piece having superior surface characteristics capable of preventing cracks on a surface of a casting piece caused by entrainment of scum and also preventing occurrence of scum flaws. SOLUTION: In a casting method of a thin casting piece by means of a pair of drum type continuous casting method in which molten metal is poured to a pouring basin portion formed by a part of a peripheral surface of a cooling drum and a side bank, and further in which a thin casting piece is continuously cast while cooling and solidifying the molten metal by means of a rotating peripheral surface of the cooling drum, a coating agent making surface tension of melting steel weak is applied to a drum surface. Further, when the coating agent is not applied to an end portion of the drum, the thin casting piece having more superior surface characteristics can be produced. The coating agent preferably contains an element making surface tension of melting steel weak and/or a compound of elements making surface tension of melting steel weak.

The slurry is applied to the cover layer by any one of the spray, the roll application, and the porous impregnation application.

SOLUTION: The solid oxygen ion conductor is used into the molten steel and an oxygen pump is formed with the impression of voltage, and the oxygen is supplied and added or the oxidizing gas is blown into the molten steel to produce oxide, but such supplying degree as not to oxidize the molten steel itself into FeO by giving excess oxygen, is restrained. That is, the oxygen needed to oxidize Al, Ti, Si, etc., contained in the molten steel is supplied and added. Such a metallic element as Al, Ti, Si, etc., has intense affinity with the oxygen, and while avoiding the oxidation of the molten steel itself by restraining to the supply of so sufficient oxygen quantity as to oxidize these elements, only the target metallic elements can selectively be oxidized.

CONSTITUTION:An electromagnetic stirring device 4 generating the flow rotating the molten steel in the mold near a meniscus 8 in the horizontal direction along the inner peripheral surface of the solidified shell 9 is provided, and a spouting hole 3 is provided downward at the bottom part in an immersion nozzle 2. The area of this spouting hole 3 is defined as [the molten steel pouring rate (ton/min) into the mold/50]m to [(the cast slab thickness (m)-0.07) X the cast slab width (m)]m . The immersion nozzle 2 is arranged so that this spouting hole 3 positions at the lower part from the stirring device 4 to pour the molten steel downward in the mold. By this method, the generation of blow hole and the defect such as surface flaw and longitudinal crack are reduced and the cast slab having excellent surface and internal qualities can be produced.
