    • PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of hunting of an engine by operating an electrostrictive actuator in the direction of finishing pilot injection when output voltage of a sensor reaches a reference voltage at the time of pilot injection. CONSTITUTION:With the rotation of a pump driving shaft, a cam 8 is lifted so that pressure in a plunger chamber 3 increases and simultaneously output of a sensor 7 increases. When it becomes above nozzle valve opening pressure, pilot injection is started. Subsequently, the plunger chamber pressure continue increasing and the sensor output is compared with a reference voltage by a controller 6. When the output becomes equal to the reference voltage, a piezo element is short-circuited, and output of an electrostrictive actuator 1 suddenly becomes zero to discontinue injection. In the above injection stroke including pilot injection, a reference voltage for deciding the short-circuit time of the piezo element is regarded in such a manner that during idling, at every time, peak values of sensor output are peak-held on every cylinder, and the average value of plural peak values up to the preceding time synchronized with each cylinder is divided at a designated ratio.

    • PURPOSE:To control the occurrence of smoke surely as well as to aim at the abatement of NOx in exhaust gas, by lowering a maximum fuel injection quantity and simultaneously stopping recirculation of the exhaust gas when an engine is discriminated to be in accelerating transition. CONSTITUTION:At the time of driving an engine, first the fundamental maximum injection quantity conformed to engine speed and supercharging pressure and the exhaust gas recirculating quantity command value conformed to the engine speed and a command fuel injection quantity are set upon retrieving each two-dimensional map at a control unit 25. Next, when an engine state of load speed or the like is judged to be in an EGR execution range, whether this engine state is in a quick accelerating state or not is discriminated by a fact that whether an accelerator opening variation to be operated from a signal of an accelerator sensor 29 is more than the specified value or not. And, when YES discrimination is the case, a linear solenoid 24 of an injection pump 45 is controlled so as to reduce the maximum fuel injection quantity, while a negative pressure regulating valve 43 is controlled so as to stop exhaust gas recirculation.

    • PURPOSE:To enable a diesel engine to be maintained at an optimum running state, by a method wherein abnormality on feed fuel is decided from a responding state of a fuel injection timing. CONSTITUTION:When a control circuit 72 decides transient time from whether an accel opening is varied after warming-up of an engine, movement of a timer piston 56 of a distribution type fuel injection pump 1 is started, waiting is effected for a time in which a movement speed is kept at a specified value. The movement speed of a timer is determined from a movement amount of a deviation angle responding to a difference between a reference position signal or a number of revolutions pulse signal and a given signal, and it is decided whether the movement speed is contained in a set speed range regarding a water temperature prevailing during the starting. When it is decided that the movement speed is not contained in a normal area, decision on fuel abnormality is made and is stored in an EEPROM 79, and a display lamp 86 displaying that fuel is abnormal is lighted ON. Since, when, for example, light oil, having fluid point higher than that at the open air temperature or kerosene having low viscosity, is used as fuel, an alrm is effected, this constitution prevents the use of a erroneous fuel.

    • PURPOSE:To improve response to control of a timer, by a method wherein the change speed of the actual position of a timer for controlling an injection timing a detected, and fluid viscosity in an injection amount of an injection pump is corrected according to fluid viscosity decided from the change speed. CONSTITUTION:According to the running state of an engine, an electromagnetic valve D is controlled by means of an injection timing means F to control an in-pump pressure fed to a fluid pressure type timer mechanism C, and this control causes control of the fuel injection timing of a fuel injection pump B. In this case, a delay means L, deciding elapse of a given time responding to at least a battery voltage after decision of the transient running state of an engine by means of a transient detecting means G is provided. After elapse of the given time, the change speed of a timer actual position by the timer mechanism C is detected by a timer speed detecting means H. From the change speed, fluid viscosity in the injection pump B is decided by a deciding means I, and according to the decided fluid viscosity and the running state of an engine, an injection amount control member E is controlled by an injection amount control means J.
