摘要： In a first preliminary filling step, ink edge is moved to a position between first and second pressure chambers in an ink supply passage and the second pressure chamber is filled preliminarily with the ink. In a second preliminary filling step, the ink edge is moved to a position between the first pressure chamber and a nozzle in the ink supply passage. Meanwhile, bubbles are discharged from the second pressure chamber and the first pressure chamber is preliminarily filled with the ink. Finally, in the complete filling step, the supply passage is filled entirely with the ink.

摘要： Cartridge total weight SN of an ink bag filled with ink is measured. Ink weight SU of ink stored in the ink bag is calculated from the found cartridge total weight SN (step S17). The ink weight SU is converted into a printable amount and this printable amount is stored in an IC chip as an initial value Sc for calculating a remaining amount (step S19). A printer reads the initial value Sc for calculating the remaining amount from the IC chip, subtracts the ink consumption amount from the initial value Sc for calculating the remaining amount to calculate a new ink remaining amount, and stores the calculated ink remaining amount in the IC chip.

The other opening of the bag portion is sealed through the thermal adhesion, thereby forming a third welded portion 39. The ink volume capable of being stored in the bag portion 31 of the ink pack 24 is larger than the volume in a frame 26c for storing the ink pack 24.

摘要： An ink-jet recording apparatus having an ink-jet recording head including pressure generating chambers communicatively connected to a nozzle opening and a reservoir, pressure generating member for pressurizing the pressure generating chambers, and a control device for applying drive signals to the pressure generating member. The control device applies drive signals to the pressure generating member. The drive signals contain signals corresponding to print data and signals which minutely vibrate the meniscus of ink in the nozzle openings to such an extent as to not eject ink droplets during a nonprint period. The control device causes ejection of ink droplets from the nozzle openings in accordance with print data during printing operations, and minutely vibrates the meniscuses of ink formed at the nozzle openings a preset period of time before or after the discharging of the ink droplets in a printing operation.
