    • A first component includes either linear bearings or linear shafts that are located at a fixed hole-to-hole or center-to-center distance. A second component, having linear shafts or linear bearings, respectively, is capable of adjusting the center-to-center or hole-to-hole distance of those second linear shafts or linear bearings. The center-to-center or hole-to-hole distance can be adjusted by relative motion between a first sub-component and a second sub-component of the second component, and/or deforming an elastically-deformable element of the second component. The second component can include a rigid stabilizing element and an elastically-deformable element. The elastically-deformable element can act as a pseudo-spring to adjust the center-to-center or hole-to-hole distance of the linear shafts or bearings that are attached to this second component to the appropriate fixed hole-to-hole or center-to-center distance of the other of the linear bearings or linear shafts as the carriage travels along the path of motion.

    • A fusible link device comprising a housing that contains terminals for terminating incoming/outgoing wires, and that also contains a fusible link that interconnects a pair of the terminals in series, the fusible link device providing a self-contained unit/module for terminating and fusing wires to be electrically interconnected in series. The housing includes ports for inserting the wires that terminate on the terminals. These ports may be environmentally protected, such as by gel-sealing. The terminals may be implemented as insulation displacement connectors for connecting the wires and/or the fusible links. In one implementation, the fusible link device may contain a total of four of the terminals and two fusible links for terminating and fusing the tip and ring lines in a telecommunications network. The fusible link device may also include one or more voltage protection devices, of the same or different type, electrically connected across terminals that are not series connected to each other.

    • A miniature station overvoltage protection module having a surge protector device and a back-up protector suitable for use on communication lines, includes a hollow housing having a top surface; a pair of line terminals and a ground terminal disposed in the housing top surface, extending inside the hollow housing. A holding bracket affixed to the housing ground terminal disposed within the hollow housing includes first and second conductors and a ground conductor, each of the first and second conductors extends towards one of the pair of line terminals and is in electrically conductive contact therewith; the ground conductor is in electrically conductive contact with the ground terminal. A surge arrester, having at least a pair of electrode terminals and a ground terminal connected to the housing ground terminal. Each one of the pair of surge arrester electrode terminals is in electrically conductive contact with one of the pair of line terminals. Additionally included is a pair of two terminal solid state back-up protection devices, one of the protection devices is disposed between each electrode of the surge arrester and the ground conductor, with one terminal of each being in intimate electrically conductive contact with each one of the surge arrester electrode terminals.
