    • Visibility of a distant area illuminated by a headlamp of a vehicle having a centralized light source type is improved. The headlamp for the vehicle include a light source, an optical cable emitting an incident light from the light source, lens bodies forming the incident light from the optical cable into a desired light distribution and irradiating the incident light ahead of the vehicle. The lens bodies have lens-shaped outgoing light surfaces where focal points are located in the vicinity of the incident light surfaces of the lens bodies, and the lens bodies have reflective surfaces R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 reflecting the incident light toward an outgoing light surfaces. The light axis X of the optical cable is tilted by a predetermined angle .alpha. with respect to the reflective surfaces R.sub.1 and R.sub.2.

    • An illumination device able to maintain a high level of light utilization and provide essential functions using a compact design. The illumination device includes a light source, at least one fiberoptic cable for transmitting light from the light source, and at least one lamp device for producing a desired light distribution. The lamp device includes a light bending and conducting path that directly receives the light emitted from the fiberoptic cable. The light bending and conducting path bends the light beam by a desired angle. The lamp device further includes light conducting path lenses that are directly connected to the light bending and conducting path. The lenses produce the desired lights distribution.

    • A plasma ignition system includes an ignition plug attached to an engine and a high-voltage supply. The plug includes a center electrode serving as a positive pole, a ground electrode serving as a negative pole, and an insulating member insulating the center electrode from the ground electrode and defining a discharge space therein. At least a part of a surface of the center electrode faces the space, and at least a part of a surface of the ground electrode faces the discharge space. The plug puts gas in the space into a plasma state and injects the gas into the engine as a result of application of high voltage and supply of a large current to the plug by the high-voltage supply. The center electrode has a recess portion opposed to the space and recessed in a direction opposite to an injection direction.
