    • PURPOSE: An apparatus for reducing suction loss of a reciprocating compressor is provided to reduce suction loss of refrigerant gas. CONSTITUTION: A piston(120) has a gas channel formed therein and connected with a suction tube of a casing to guide refrigerant gas to a compression space of a cylinder. The gas channel comprises a suction channel(121) penetrating in longitudinal direction of the piston; a suction penetrating port(122) connected with an outlet side of the suction channel and perforated to a front end side of the piston; and a suction guiding part(123) placed between the suction channel and the suction penetrating port, and formed to be tapered so as to get narrower from the suction channel to the suction penetrating port. Refrigerant gas introduced into the gas channel passes the suction channel and is discharged along the suction guiding part through the suction penetrating port as channel resistance is reduced thereby. Alternatively, the suction guiding part is extended to the front end side of the piston to minimize length of the suction penetrating port, or is formed from a starting end of the suction channel to an end of the suction penetrating port.

CONSTITUTION: An apparatus includes a cylinder(110) inserted and fixed to a frame unit, forming a compression space(P) formed therein, and having a plurality of buffer grooves(112a) formed on a front end side(112) thereof; a piston(42) slid into the compression space of the cylinder, and linearly reciprocating together with a mover of a reciprocating motor to vary volume of the compression space; and a discharge valve assembly(120) mounted on the front end side of the cylinder to open and close the compression space of the cylinder when the piston reciprocates. The buffer grooves are formed on the front end side of the cylinder in circumferential direction at regular intervals. Severe collision of a discharge valve(122) of the discharge valve assembly against the front end side of the cylinder due to sudden closing of the discharge valve is prevented by force of compressed gas charged in the buffer grooves during discharge of the compressed gas.
