    • An interference cancellation device in a wireless communication system and a method thereof are provided to insert a virtual decision signal point corresponding to a zero point into a symbol demapper within an interference canceller, thus the interference canceller can operate in a robust way irrespective of existence of an interference signal. An interference canceller(210) generates decision signal points by adding virtual signal points to zero points and decision signal points in accordance with a modulation mode, and regenerates an interference signal for interference cancellation among receiving signals to output the regenerated signal. The canceller(210) includes a symbol demapper(215) which compares a predetermined threshold value in accordance with system setup with size of a complex value of an inputted signal, maps the virtual signal points of the zero points with the decision signal points to output the mapped points if the size of the complex value is less than the threshold value, and which maps one of the decision signal points in accordance with the modulation mode of the inputted complex value to output the mapped points.

    • An apparatus and a method for receiving signals in a communication system are provided to improve signal reception performance by selecting whether to use an interference cancellation scheme, correspondingly to a modulation scheme. An apparatus for receiving signals in a communication system comprises a demodulator(213), a controller(227), a channel estimator(215), and a selector(217). The demodulator(213) receives information about the first modulation scheme, which a serving BS(Base Station) will apply to a frequency domain, from the serving BS, demodulates it. Afterwards, the demodulator(213) receives a signal through the frequency domain and demodulates the received signal. The controller(227) estimates a modulation scheme, which a neighbor BS will apply to the frequency domain, by using the received signal and determines the estimated modulation scheme as the second modulation scheme. The channel estimator(215) estimates the received signal and creates channel state information. The selector(217), based on the channel state information and the information about the first and second modulation schemes, selects whether to use an interference cancellation scheme.

    • A method and a system for allocating resources in a communication system are provided to improve the performance of a system by dividing a data transmission domain into an interference domain and a non-interference domain so that an MS(Mobile Station), which suffers cell interference from a neighbor cell, can easily remove the cell interference and increase the CINR(Carrier to Interference Noise Ratio). A BS(Base Station), if its own cell ID is determined, segments a data transmission domain for transmitting data to MSs, which exist within its own cell, into an interference domain and a non-interference domain(501). Then, the BS receives feedback information from the MSs(503). Based on the received feedback information, the BS confirms locations of each MS(505). If it is confirmed that an MS is in the interference domain, the BS allocates interference domain resources to the MS(507). On the contrary, in case an MS is in the non-interference domain, the BS allocates non-interference domain resources to the MS(509). Then, after inserting the segmentation information of the data transmission domain and resource allocation information into a MAP message and sends it to each MS, the BS transmits data to each MS through the allocated resources.

    • An IDD(Iterative Detection and Decoding) receiver in a MIMO(Multi-Input Multi-Output) system and a method thereof are provided to improve convergence speed by reducing recalculations according to the reliabilities of LLR(Log Likelihood Ratio) values, generated in the middle of iterations, and changing the order of processing between a detector and a decoder. An MIMO IDD receiver detects the "i"th MIMO node, creates an LLR value, the soft decision value of the "i"th MIMO node, and judges whether detection for all the nodes has been completed(701,703). If detection for all the nodes has been completed, the MIMO IDD receiver deinterleaves and rearranges the LLR values of the MIMO nodes(707). Then the MIMO IDD receiver inputs the rearranged LLR values to a channel decoder, executes decoding, and updates the LLR values at the "j"th decoding node contained in the channel decoder(709). Updating the LLR values, the MIMO IDD receiver determines the execution of the feedback of each MIMO node according to the reliability of each of the updated LLR value(711). In case the execution of the feedback of a MIMO node is required, the MIMO IDD receiver deinterleaves and rearranges the LLR values updated at the "j"th decoding node(713). Then the MIMO IDD receiver creates the LLR values of the MIMO nodes connected to the "j"th decoding node again and deinterleaves the created LLR values(715,717). The MIMO IDD receiver confirms whether decoding has been executed at all the decoding nodes(719).
