    • A method is described for scheduling a plurality of data flows to a plurality of shared channels in a wireless communication system transmitting data packets in time intervals of frames and applying adaptive modulation and coding. The method comprises the steps of determining virtual link adaptation parameters for at least a part of all combinations of data flow and shared channel, based on state information from the respective shared channel, and based on Quality of Service requirements for the respective data flow; calculating potential data rates for said combinations of data flow and shared channel, based on said virtual link adaptation parameters; calculating priority values for said combinations of data flow and shared channel, based on said potential data rates; and selecting, based on the calculated priority values, for at least a part of the shared channels, a data flow for which data is to be transmitted on each of these shared channel during the time interval of one frame.

    • The present invention relates to a method for balancing the distribution of interference between radio cells in a wireless communication system comprising cells in which subcarrier blocks are used for communication. A number of adjacent cells build a cell cluster. Moreover, the present invention relates to a corresponding method adapted for use in a system in which multi beam antennas or multiple antennas are used. Furthermore, the present invention relates to base stations performing the above method as well as a communication system comprising the base stations. To reduce the large average SIR variations without causing additional SIR estimation, measurement and calculation problem as introduced with power control the invention suggests to group subcarrier blocks into a plurality of subcarrier block sets in each cell of a cell cluster, to determine transmission power ranges for each of the cells of said cell cluster, and to assign transmission power ranges to the subcarrier block sets to perform TPC within the ranges.

    • The invention relates to a method for receiving data units when using one HARQ process of an HARQ protocol. The memory associated to the HARQ process is divided into several sub-areas, which are addressable by an identifier. Then, when data is received, same is stored in one of the sub-areas. By providing more than one sub-area for one HARQ process, it is possible to actually use one HARQ process for two (or more) different received data units, being from the same data flow or from a different data flow. The actual sub-area of the HARQ process for storing data units can be either freely selected at the receiving end or is indicated by an identifier associated with the data. Furthermore, persistent scheduled data is transmitted in units, scheduled at fixed time intervals. Thus, a control signaling field, usually used for indicating new units, can be used to store the identifier.
