    • A hanging file support structure for the drawer of a file cabinet comprises a hangrail and a bracket for supporting the hangrail in a generally horizontal position within the drawer. The bracket is generally C-shaped in cross-section and has pairs of hooks extended from edges thereof which are received in slots provided in a wall of the drawer. Two sets of slots are provided in the wall of the drawer such that the bracket may selectively be supported in either of two positions thereby defining two separate positions for the hangrail to accommodate hanging file folders of different widths.

    • A chair is provided which comprises a mounting and latch member which is attached to the the chair arm to form a male assembly section and a female member which is attached to bottom of the seat support structure to provide a female section thereon. The female member has a slot for receiving and holding the mounting member and an attached arm so that the chair arm and the seat support structure are firmly and positively affixed to each other in a manner which also readily permits intentional removal. A resilient latch is resiliently and flexibly joined to the member for engaging the female member in order to prevent the male section from being withdrawn from the slot of the female member until the latch is disengaged.

    • Office furniture units, particularly desks, are fabricated panel members cut from standard pre-finished flat wood panels, their precise final configuration, by an NC controlled automatic router, including all holes, recesses and the like required in each panel member. The panel members have configurations which constitute the intelligence to assure their precise alignment as they are subassembled into furniture panel components by securing the appropriate panel members together in multiple layers, and for reception of two-part mechanical fasteners in appropriate positions to insure proper positioning of the panel components with respect to one another in the final assembly of the panel components into a functional office furniture unit. The panel components are assembled with one another in T-joint fashion, with the edge surface of one panel abutting a major side surface of the respective transverse panel to which being joined, using cam-type fastener components which secure the panel components together in firm edge-abutment relationships. The multiple layers of panel members provide reinforcement and rigidity of the panel components where necessary, as well as visual thickness effect. In each instance, one of the panel members is of the configuration of the final panel component. Several of the panel members include edge tabs which protrude laterally of the respective subassembled components for interfitting in recesses provided in mating panels to provide enhanced shear strength across the T-joint interpanel connections in the final assembly of the furniture unit. The structure and method also provide flexibility to produce differing furniture items in successive machining and assembly operations, for rapid production of a variety of different products "to order" from a single machine production line.

    • A bracket assembly such as is used for hanging office furnishing components on vertical supports, e.g., slotted posts of office partition systems, includes a mounting bracket with a plurality of aligned, coplanar hooks for engagement with aligned slots of such supports and an interlock member pivotally mounted on the bracket, with a cam section at one end and a locking projection at the other. The cam section is positioned to enter a slot as the bracket is engaged on the support and thereafter engages the lower edge of the slot as the bracket is seated to rotate the interlock member and extend the locking projection into another of the slots. The locking projection is positioned to enter the slot as the interlock is rotated by the cam and thereafter is held in the slot by the interlock to preclude raising of the bracket for disengagement of the hooks except upon counterrotation of the interlock member by the user.

    • A system for connecting wall panels in abutting edgewise relation, wherein abutting edges of the panels are formed with semi-circular recesses in them, includes pairs of spaced slots formed in the corners defining transverse semi-circular edges of the panel frames. Two connectors are provided having conical recesses for engaging the edges of the slots. The connectors are each fastened by a screw to an end of an elongate bar which fits within the recesses of the corners. When the connectors are fastened tightly to the bar, the engagement of the conical recesses with the corner edges draws the panels tightly together. By this system, the panels may be connected either in-line or at an angle of between 90 and 180 degrees, without the need for any special corner hardware.
