[Also in Division F4] A re-heater for a steam generating plant, having at least two parts 1a, 1b each with steam inlets 4, 5 and outlets 11, 12, has control valves 6, 7 for controlling steam flow through at least one of the parts and cooling means 15 with further control values 13, 14 for diverting through the cooling means a desired preparation of the steam prior to its entry into one or other of the parts. The re-heater may be installed between stages of a turbine, and the cooler 15 may be a non-constact desuperheater supplied with boiler feed water through pipes 16, 17 provided with a by-pass 18. The re-heater is divided into two or three or more parts by diaphragm plates 2. One only steam control valve such as 7 need be provided. The invention is used for balancing steam flow through the re-heater parts and providing a desired output temperature.
