摘要： A continuous mining machine has a pivoting mining head and gathering head at the front of the machine and a pivoting discharge conveyor boom extending from the rear of the machine. The mining head, gathering head and conveyor boom pivot on a pivot structure about a common axis. The pivot structure has first and second upright pivot supporting members on the main frame of the mining machine which mount and secure a pivot means for the mining head and a pivot means for the gathering head and conveyor. Either the pivot means for the mining head or the pivot means for the gathering head and conveyor can be removed from the pivot structure while the other pivot means remains mounted and secured in the pivot structure.

Coal-cutting machines.-In a mining-machine comprising a cutter carrying member capable of being slued about the axis of the gear head-casing, a bolt, movable endwise and capable of being shot into the locking position, is provided for locking the member and head-casing against relative rotation, the endwise movement being produced by relative rotation between a helical race and an abutment. As shown, brackets 2, 3 on the head-casing have guides for the movable bolt C which carries an abutment 5 engaging a helical race D which has rests or indents at intervals and has a flat upper surface 6. The bolt is non-rotatable and is moved out of engagement with the cutter-carrier B by rotating the helical race by means of a tommybar inserted in an opening 9. In a modification, the helical race is fixed and the bolt rotatable, while in other forms the race is carried bv the bolt and the abutment by the head-casing, either the bolt or the abutment being rotatable.

Coal-cutting machines. - A mining machine comprises a frame 1 supported on a shoe 2, a head 15 comprising castings 22, 23 and a top plate 24 bolted to the casting 22, and a cutter chain 4 supported on a cutter arm 3 which is pivoted on a shaft 16 in a chamber 25 formed by the plate 24 and casting 22; the chamber 25 is open at each side and at the front for the passage of cuttings. The casting 23 is supported on an extension of the shoe 2 and with the casting 22 supports clutch-controlled gearing 18 - - 21 through which the cutter chain is driven. The cutter arm is held in adjusted position by a bushing 27 and a two-part pivotally-connected bolt 26 engaging apertures in the arm and head. When the machine is used for room and pillar working, a guide-carrying member 10 is attached to the head. The haulage chain 5 is arranged below the cutter arm.

摘要： A continuous mining machine employs a chain conveyor consisting of two separate chains with one-sided flights. The axes of the chain sprockets are located within the vertical plane so that the chains run within the plane generally parallel to the mine floor. The chains have universal links so they can change direction within the vertical plane as well. This arrangement allows substantially better special configuration than the present chain conveyors and the flights of the chains provide loading function, thus eliminating the need for the loader.

摘要： A conveyor cart for a mining machine is made from readily available components, including conventional golf cart components, and has a maximum height of 20 inches or less (e.g. about 18 inches) so that it can be effectively utilized with a continuous miner for mining ultra thin coal seams. A chassis has side rails with front and rear ends and cross pieces extending between the side rails. A first coupling mechanism, such as an eye bolt, is mounted adjacent the front end, and a second coupling mechanism, such as a pintle hook, mounted adjacent the rear end. A single axle containing a pair of inflatable golf cart wheels extends between the side rails and may be driven by a conventional golf cart transmission and an AC motor. An endless conveyor belt is mounted so that it has a top portion for conveying mined material from the continuous mining machine to the mine mouth, and a bottom portion beneath the top portion, the conveyor belt powered by an electric motor mounted to the chassis. The cart includes an electrical cord with female and male plugs at opposite ends, and can support a safety cable and an electrical cable that go from the mine mouth to the continuous miner.

The dust abatement device can be mounted on a machine that includes a mechanism for acting on material in a manner so as to create the area of dust concentration. More particularly, the dust-forming mechanism can be the cutter head of a continuous mining machine that rotates in a direction to cause an air flow rearwardly and upwardly from the area of dust concentration. In this event, the fan delivers the air and slurry in a spray to the cutter head and substantially in a direction counter to the air flow created by the cutter head to retard such flow and movement of the dry dust particulate away from the area of dust concentration.
