摘要： A method of processing a scroll member having a spiral wrap and an end plate which is conducted by effecting a shaving on at least one side surface of the spiral wrap by a tool while applying to the tool both of an axial small force and an ultrasonic oscillation simultaneously. An apparatus is proposed which comprises a shaving tool having a spiral groove of the same configuration as the spiral wrap, and a cutting edge portion formed on at least one side edge of the groove over the entire length of the side edge. A tool supporting device supports the shaving tool, and a blank supporting device supports a scroll blank such that the scroll blank opposes to the shaving tool. A device is connected to the tool supporting means and is adapted to impart to the tool a pressing force necessary for effecting the shaving, and an ultrasonic oscillation generating device is adapted to impart an ultrasonic oscillation to one of the tool or the blank.

摘要： A boring bar having a removable indexable cutting insert with a plurality of cutting edges is disclosed. The cutting insert is held in place in the bar by a locking finger on an insert clamp which is locked into place by a ball which is wedged against a release pin that engages the clamp. The ball may be moved so as to allow the pin to move, thereby releasing the force applied by the clamp whenever the insert is to be indexed or whenever a replacement of the insert is required. This is achieved by either manual or hydraulic control of a wedge shaft that engages the ball.

摘要： An adjustable tool unit consisting, in particular, of a cartridge adapted for being fixedly connected to a support with the cartridge including an outer sleeve to be connected to the support and a threaded element in the sleeve. A nut on the threaded element engages one side of the sleeve while a spring acts between the other end of the element and the other side of the sleeve. The threaded element protrudes outwardly from the nut and is formed with a pocket for receiving a cutting insert. The arrangement provides for axial adjustment of the threaded element even while mounted in a support that does not permit access to the end of the element opposite the insert end thereof.

The head has a body having a shank portion and a transverse channel in the lower part thereof and a transverse hole therein intersecting the channel and at right angles thereto. A pair of bit mounting bases is slidably positioned in the channel and a transverse hole extends through the bases generally aligned with the transverse hole in said body. A bolt is rotatably mounted in one end of the transverse hole in the body, extending through the transverse hole in the bases and threaded into the other end of the transverse hole in the body, the hole in the bases is larger than the bolt for permitting some relative movement between the bases and the bolt. A bit is secured to each of the bases, one being at one end of one base and the other being at the other end of the other base. Wedge means is provided for adjusting the positions of the bases downwardly in the channel when the bolt is only gently tightened.
