The second sealing device (12) includes a second sealing element (15) that is positively arranged within the housing (2) and/or within the control member (9) while being disposed at a distance from the control member (9) in the radial direction.

    • Described is a power-assisted steering system, intended for motor vehicles, in which a pinion (2) mounted in the steering-gear housing (1) engages with a toothed rack (6). A steering valve (8) designed to control the hydraulic fluid used in the power-assisted steering system has two inlet seat valves (10, 11) and two outlet seat valves (12, 13) whose obturator elements are moved by actuator rods as a function of the rotary motion of a spindle. When the steering valve is in the neutral position, the outlet valves (12, 13) are open. The inlet valves (10, 11) are acted on by compression springs in the valve-closure direction and are not opened until after the associated outlet valve (12, 13) closes. Fitted on each side of the steering valve (8) is a limiting piston (31). Each piston (31) is acted on by one of the centering springs (30) and by a first pressure in the swept space of a servo motor on one side and by a limiting force on the other side. When the steering valve (8) is in the neutral position, the limiting force is greater than the force exerted by the centering spring (30) so that the limiting piston (31) rests against a stop shoulder when the steering valve (8) is in the neutral position. A design of this kind makes it possible to cut off or limit the actuation torque.
