    • A improved snap-in bracket for supporting an electronic component in an opening in a support panel has, a cylindrical body disposed for friction-fit or ultrasonically welded engagement with the electronic component, holding members hingedly connected on diametrically opposing sides of the cylindrical body, locking tabs operatively associated with the holding members, and resilient fingers medially connected at opposite sides of a cylindrical body and at a predetermined spaced distance from the holding members. When the snap-in bracket is in assembled position, the holding members are disposed to engage the upper face of the support panel about the opening therein to exert a downward force upon the upper face, and the resilient fingers are disposed to engage the lower face of the panel about the opening therein and exert an upward force thereon opposite to the two forces exerted by the holding members for operative coaction therewith to detachably fix and maintain the snap-in bracket in assembled position. Further, the locking tabs are positioned within the opening in the support panel and exert a force upon the wall of the opening with a magnitude directly proportional to the magnitude of external forces that may be exerted against the snap-in bracket to effectively prevent deformation of the holding members when the snap-in bracket is in assembled position. Additionally, the improved snap-in bracket as above described, wherein the improved snap-in bracket and the electronic component are manufactured as an integral unit to be detachably fixed and maintained in the opening in the support panel.

    • A latch for releasably maintaining a terminal block in an installed position in a panel aperture includes a U-shaped frame, guides on the terminal block at a leading edge thereof integral with the distal ends of the parallel arms of the frame supporting the latter on the terminal block in cantilever spring fashion and defining a lead-in surface in longitudinal profile, and a latch arm supported on the frame between the support arms in cantilever spring fashion including a ramp at its distal end extending from above the frame to inboard of the lead-in surface. As the terminal block approaches the installed position, the guides facilitate final movement thereto while the relationship between the ramp and the lead-in surface insures that the edge of the aperture will engage the latch arm only on the ramp thereby to prevent misengagement between the latch arm and the panel.

    • Disclosed herein is a mounting frame equipped with a decorative plate, for mounting a switch or the like.     • A snap-in switch housing for a manually operated electrical switching device has a bushing in which a control shaft for the device is journaled molded from a plastic material. Included on the exterior of the bushing are resilient prongs having cam surfaces which cause the prongs to be pushed inwardly as the bushing is inserted through an aperture in a mounting plate for the switch device with barbs on the prongs preventing retraction of the switch housing from the mounting plate after insertion.     • The present invention is directed to a unique device for mounting electrical apparatus to a wall panel, wherein the device includes a main body portion having a cavity for holding components of the electrical apparatus and a pillar-shaped portion attached to the main body portion and extending through an opening in the wall panel. A free end of the pillar-shaped portion includes a plurality of outwardly protruding steps which overlap the wall panel, with a first set of the steps having a first axial length and a second set of the steps having a second, shorter axial length. A biasing member extends between the main body portion and the wall panel and biases the wall panel into contact with only the first set of steps, creating a gap between the wall panel and the second set of steps. A cover member surrounds the free end of the pillar-shaped portion and extends into the gap, with the second set of steps biasing the cover into contact with the wall panel.
