    • The invention relates to a control system with service-oriented architecture for a flexible production system, comprising decentralized, distributed devices coupled together via a data communication system for the exchange of data, said devices having at least one software component and electrical and/or mechanical components. Said invention also relates to a method based on the development and implementation of service-oriented software components as component parts of a service-oriented architecture for decentralized, distributed devices in flexible production systems. In order to achieve the aim of making the control system configurable in a low-cost manner in the event of changes in the production system or different production scenarios, it is proposed that the software component is derived from a process or subprocess of a PPR model of the flexible production system, wherein each software component has a control logic derived from the process or subprocess, a flexible interface for access to resources represented in the PPR model, and a communications interface for integration into the service-oriented architecture.

    • An operator interface within a process plant includes an execution engine that implements process flow modules made up of interconnected smart process objects that are aware of devices and other entities within the plant and that can perform methods to detect conditions within the plant, especially on a system-level basis. The smart process objects include a display element to be displayed to the operator, data storage for storing data pertaining to and/or received from an associated entity within a plant, inputs and outputs for communicating with other smart process objects and methods that may be executed on the stored and received data to detect plant conditions, including system-level conditions, such as leaks, errors and other conditions. Process flow modules, which may be made up of numerous interconnected smart process objects, may also include flow algorithms associated therewith to calculate mass balances, flows, etc. for the process elements within the process flow modules.

    • A computer-implemented system and method for automatically generating graphical code in a graphical programming system. The computer memory stores a plurality of graphical code templates. The graphical programming system executing on the computer system also includes a plurality of front panel objects or controls which represent the user interface. One or more associated graphical code portions or templates can be associated with certain of the controls. According to the present invention, the user first selects a control and then preferably initiates the graphical code generation wizard for the control. When the graphical code generation wizard is invoked, the wizard displays on the screen a configuration panel or dialog, prompting the user to configure the control or object. The user then selects parameter values to configure certain aspects of the graphical code being created. The graphical code generation wizard selects a graphical code template in response to the control and configures the graphical code template with the parameter values. The graphical code generation wizard then creates an association between the control and the configured graphical code. The user can edit wizard created code either using the graphical code generation wizard or by unlocking the association between the control and the code and making the changes directly in the block diagram. The present invention also comprises a graphical code generation wizard designed specifically for industrial automation applications, referred to as the MMI G Wizard.
