    • Proposed is a drilling tool for drilling in solid material, having a base body (1) containing chip flutes (5, 5a) and at least two interchangeable inserts (3, 3a) at the face of the base body (1). The inserts are arranged on the base body at different radial distances such that their working ranges partially overlap. The blades (12) of the inserts (3, 3a) are formed by two cutting edges (8, 9) which together form an obtuse angle, that is the point angle (11). The face (13) of the blades (12) has parallel profile ribs (14, 14a) which act as runners and which in the region of the cutting edges (8, 9), aligned in the direction of chip removal, extend radially inwards over a curved course relative to their installed position, toward a flank region (17) of the insert (3, 3a) near the drilling tool axis (7).

    • A cutting insert having a corner recess is provided to handle the chip effectively and minimize the cutting load even under the condition of low speed transfer and deep cutting. A cutting insert(100) comprises a top surface(1), a bottom surface, a plurality of side surfaces(2) connecting the top and bottom surfaces and a center hole. A flat seating surface(1A) is formed at the maximum height of the upper surface. A plurality of side cutting edge parts(110,120,130,140), in which a side cutting edge is formed on the upper portion, are formed in the border of the side and upper surfaces. Corner cutting edge parts(210,220,230,240), in which a corner cutting edge is formed on the leading end, are formed in the border of adjacent side cutting edges. In the corner cutting edge part, a land portion, a descending slope surface, a corner bottom surface, a first ascending slope surface, a first projection, a second ascending slope surface, a second projection, a rising groove surface and a seating surface are sequentially formed along the diagonal from the corner cutting edge to the center hole.

    • The present invention relates to cutting tools with cutting inserts and, more particularly, to cutting inserts having adjusted cutting edges. The cutting insert (25) comprises a virtual clearance surface (37) that is one of substantially flat and planar and substantially frustoconical. The virtual clearance surface forms a non-zero angle with a perpendicular to a virtual plane of a top surface (39) of the insert. A first virtual cutting edge (41) is disposed above the virtual clearance surface (37). All points on the first virtual cutting edge (41) are disposed at the plane of the top surface (39). An adjusted clearance surface (45) differs from the virtual clearance surface (37) and forms the non-zero angle with the perpendicular to the plane of the top surface (39). An adjusted cutting edge (47) above the adjusted clearance surface (45), at least some but fewer than all points on the adjusted cutting edge (47) are disposed at different distances from the plane of the top surface (39). A profile of the adjusted cutting edge (47) viewed in the direction of the perpendicular to the plane of the top surface (39) corresponds to a profile of the first virtual cutting edge (41). The present invention also relates to a cutting tool.
