CONSTITUTION: Each recessed valley part 7 is formed on a rake surface 2 adjacent to an insert corner 6 and united with a right end of each main cutting edge 5. The valley part 7 has a bottom surface 8 intersecting a secondary rake surface 9 on a secondary cutting edge 10. A degree of displacement of the secondary cutting edge 10 toward a bottom edge 4 to the main. cutting edge 5 and a degree of the outward displacement to the main rake surface to which the secondary cutting edge 10 is adjacent are determined so that each secondary cutting edge 10 does not project beyond its associated main cutting edge 5 when an insert is viewed from an upper portion in the direction of the rake surface 2.

The vertical components RV1 and RV2 of the reactions R1 and R2 press the bottom surface of the tail part 9 to a pocket bottom surface 22, and the horizontal components RH1 and RH2 press the oblique part 14 of the tail part 9 to the inclined part 24 of the pocket 20. Accordingly, the tail part 9 is effectively doubly clamped horizontally and vertically in the pocket 20 of a tool holder, and the reliable firm mounting of an insert tool within the tool holder can be ensured.

Further, the rear ends of the first and second cutting edges 5a and 5b are annexed to the front ends of the subsequent second and third cutting edges 5b and 5c through intermediate edges 6 and 7 and the intermediate edges 6 and 7 are pointed in the direction of a base edge 3. Meanwhile, respective normals passing through the rear ends of the first and second cutting edges 5a and 5b to the axis of rotation are caused to cross the second and third cutting edges 5b and 5c.

A motor 15 is then rotated in a first direction and by rotating the tool holder 1 in the same direction the fixing nut 4 is unfastened and removal of the cutting tool 5 is allowed. After a fresh cutting tool 5 is arranged in a home position a wrench head 25 is positioned to surround the fixing nut 4, the motor 15 is rotated in an opposite direction, and the tool holder 1 is rotated in the same direction. This way performs fastening of the fixing nut 4 and fixes the cutting tool 5.
